Re: BARD Express and BARD NLS on a Windows computer

2022-01-13 Thread Joshua Hendrickson
Marty, yes, if you add a book to your wish list with bard express, you
can indeed find that book and download it with bard mobile. Richard,
I agree with you, I don't use bard express like I once did. I usually
check the most recent bard books and add those that I want to my wish
list for future downloading on my iPhone and to use with bard mobile.
I don't really know how to use social media, so have no interest in
some kind of bard platform for social media. Bard mobile is great
though. Now, that I can type on my iPhone I can easily look up a book
to either download, or add to my wish list, then download. I did this
a few minutes ago with The Taming of The Shrew.

I would be more then happy to show someone how to use bard express for
windows. I am a beta tester for the program. It is a very useful
program when you need to work with bard. Also, adding books to your
wishlist to use with bard mobile is super easy and worth the program
just for that. Also, when you find any bard book, you can hear all
kinds of info about that book and you can decide how much info about each book
you hear.

RE: BARD Express and BARD NLS on a Windows computer

2022-01-13 Thread Christopher Chaltain
I used BARD Express when I switched back to Windows and was using cartridges
for my NLS Player. I found it a nice way to download books and manage my
portable media. Once I switched to using my iPhone as my exclusive way to read
books, I didn't find it much of an advantage over the combination of the BARD
Mobile app and the BARD web site.

One feature I've requested in the past that would make all of these resources
more convenient for me would be a way of marking a book read and having that
indicated when searching for books. I also think it would be cool if a social
media aspect could be added, where people can comment on books, mark books they
like, display books similar to the one your looking at and so on. Kind of like
Good Reads for BARD. Maybe our tax dollars shouldn't pay for such a service,
but maybe NLS could open up the interface so a 3rd party could develop such a
service.

Re: BARD Express and BARD NLS on a Windows computer

2022-01-12 Thread Joshua Hendrickson
Not at this time. I don't know why more blind people don't use the
program more. I know people on email lists who are very reluctant to
use it. Some people think it is to slow, or more trouble then it is
worth. I like that when going through the most recent books, I can
just down arrow to each book and just listen as I hear things like
title, author, annotation, narrator, total length of the book, whether
the book is in a series, the file size of the book and more. You
can't get that kind of info from the main bard site or at least, not
that easily.

Joshua,
I know you cannot say anything specific about the betas, but are they beta
testing some changes currently?

It is a fabulous program and makes finding BARD books so much easier.

I've been a user since it was first released.

I am a beta tester for the program. It is a very useful program when you need

is super easy and worth the program just for that. Also, when you find any

BARD Express and BARD NLS on a Windows computer

2022-01-10 Thread richardr_turner
Here is the information from the BARD Express web site. Once you login with
BARD Express, you never have to log in again. And, something they don't
mention below, you can add books to your wish list directly from the book
details screen. Making it extremely easy to add books for later download on
your device via the wish list. Or, download them to your cartridge. Read
the documentation for full details.
