Re: Bad news concerning gamepass and the NFL mobile app.
Hi, I was able to get the feed of the Panthers-Jags game, and it is the radio feeds. There is one problem, though, when you lock the screen, the audio breaks. Can anyone confirm or deny this issue and report back? > On Sep 13, 2015, at 12:18 PM, Christopher Chaltain wrote: > > My understanding was that audio was always available on the PC and Mac, and > that it would be coming to the mobile app, which was supposed to have > happened in the update to the NFL Mobile app a few days ago. Re: Bad news concerning gamepass and the NFL mobile app.
My understanding was that audio was always available on the PC and Mac, and that it would be coming to the mobile app, which was supposed to have happened in the update to the NFL Mobile app a few days ago. I'll be curious to hear if this works an if you get the radio feed or just the audio of the TV feed. Since you get to choose between the home feed and the away feed, I'm assuming this means you'll get the radio broadcast. Although NFL Game Pass does make it convenient to pull up any game, it isn't the only way to listen to NFL games. I'm listening to the radio feed of a game right now through the team's home page. Hi Wayne, The app didn’t let you listen to the steelers-Patriots game on Thursday, but they did release an update yesterday in time for the sunday games tomorrow. Re: Bad news concerning gamepass and the NFL mobile app.
Getting back to the original topic of this thread, I called NFL Customer Support earlier and found out some interesting and perhaps good information. First of all, the Game Pass subscription lets you listen to live audio during the game and view video of the game after it is over. I have read conflicting reports on this issue which is why I point it out. Second, I told the representative that I was blind and the video didn't matter to me that much, but I did want the live audio during the game. Upon further discussion, he assured me that I could listen to the audio both on a computer or in the NFL Mobile app. When I asked him how to do it with the app, he said that you select the Matchups tab, the game you wanted, and then the home or away feed for the team. He indicated that once you are signed in on the app and have started the Game Pass free 7 day trial, that the option to listen to the audio would appear. Since the season has barely started I don't know how well this works in practice. However, given that there looks to be virtually no other way to hear any games this season outside of the Game Pass subscription, I am ready to bite the bullet and pay the $99.99. Also, you are not charged until after the 7 day free trial, and if you cancel before the end of the trial then you are not out anything. Finally, just for a comparison, I called Sirius to ask about online subscription options. After I explained that I wasn't interested in getting a receiver and only wanted the online plans, I was told of an online plan for $14.99 monthly before taxes and such that I could get. The representative said that since I live in Texas, the total would be around $17. I hung up and did some quick calculations; the Sirius plan would cost around $215 per year, verses the NFL Game Pass for one payment of $99.99 yearly. Not knocking Sirius but all I really want is the game audio and am seriously considering taking the leap. I will at least start my free trial and see how the app works as far as accessibility. If it is doable then I will definitely report back. For more information, go to: www.nfl.com/gamepass or http://gamepass.nfl.com I did download several apps for specific teams but who knows how accessible those will be, and even if they will have the ability to stream the game. I hope not. I'd still like to hear from others if it worked or not and if they're getting the radio feeds or the audio of the TV feeds. I guess if you're not interested in this thread, you can use the delete key. Using a threaded email client would also help you to avoid threads you aren't interested in. I agree with you except that I don't think there's a problem with the accessibility of the NFL Mobile app, and I don't think that's what people are complaining about here. I don't think sighted people have access to the radio feed for NFL games either. The packers seem to be a hard one to find their feed of. I'd say they have pretty good talent on there, and being in Wisconsin, that's the one I would want to listen to. I guess Fox or CBS on TV will have to safice because it isn't worth $23 a month to subscribe to Sirius just for that. It seems like a lot of the rest of their sports are available on Tunein or cheaper individual subscriptions like At Bat. - Original Message - From: "Andy Baracco" To: Sent: Friday, September 11, 2015 5:20 PM Subject: Re: Bad news concerning gamepass and the NFL mobile app. I guess it depends on which teams you want to listen to. That’s odd. I as able to log in just fine and listen to the steelers broadcast on my mac. Once they add the ability to listen to games on iOS, I’ll be happy, since I refuse to use any of those free apps that rely on actual stations, which because of contractual obligations don’t always stream the games. > On Sep 11, 2015, at 12:24 PM, Alan Paganelli > wrote: > > Just a slight correction here. The problem for me when I click on the login page is, I get a page not found message. So their telling me the NFL doesn't exist. I'm done with this crap. The NFL has my hundred bucks and I have nothing. Ok. They got me this year but they won't stick it to me next year. I was forced to listen to the Patriots game last night by listening to Westwood 1 on an old transister radio I've had sense the 70's. Re: Bad news concerning gamepass and the NFL mobile app.
Agreed. I tried to listen to the game last night with one of the free apps, Pro Football Radio and Live Scores or something, and each Steelers station I tried either had other programming on, or a repeating message that said they were sorry but they could not broadcast the game online due to contract obligations. Though I don't want to, if truly no other way exists to listen to the games other than GamePass then I just might bite the bullet and get GamePass. I'm a huge football fan and would like to listen to games other than from my home team without jumping through hoops. Re: Bad news concerning gamepass and the NFL mobile app.
I just emailed account-supp...@nfl.com and asked them to add the ability to listen to live radio broadcasts with gamepads in the app. I suggest everyone that has the subscription do the same, since the only way you can right now is through the desktop, which is accessible, it’s just a minor inconvenience to be tied to a computer all game. > On Sep 10, 2015, at 9:03 PM, Les Kriegler wrote: > > Apparently, Verizon customers can listen to audio broadcast on NFL mobile. > I'm not certain how many games can be heard, but this is specifically for > Verizon customers. > > Sent from my iPhone > >> On Sep 10, 2015, at 10:00 PM, SoonerAnnie wrote: >> >> Unfortunately, I don't think you are! Apparently, Verizon customers can listen to audio broadcast on NFL mobile. I'm not certain how many games can be heard, but this is specifically for Verizon customers.
