Dictation Getting Scrambled

2014-02-04 Thread SSEric
I don't know if this has been addressed here. When I dictate in the short
segments required, often time my additional segments end up above what I first
dictated. This seems to happen whether I just tap dictate to continue or
actually move focus by character or word to the end of my last segment.

I really hope I explained that.

Does anyone have any recommendations what I could be doing wrong or how to
improve. It is most frustrating and I generally and up canceling the entire
project.

Re: Dictation Getting Scrambled

2014-02-04 Thread Cheryl Homiak
First of all, your segments shouldn't have to be very short though there
definitely is a limit. I always think very carefully about what I want to say
before starting dictation. This doesn't eliminate the need for segments but it
does minimize it somewhat.

Secondly, it may help to navigate to the end of your segment and then do a
space with the keyboard before continuing dictation; this should ensure that
your next segment is in the right place. I think that in iOS 7 a change was
made so if you inadvertently touch somewhere in your message the cursor may
move there which results in misplaced segments whether typing or using
dictation.

I tried and tried to turn over a new leaf.
I got crumpled wads of tear-stained paper
thrown in the trash!
Then God gave me a new heart and life:
His joy for my despairing tears!
And now, every day:
This I call to mind,
and therefore I have hope:
The steadfast love of the Lord
never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.

RE: Dictation Getting Scrambled

2014-02-04 Thread Scott Duck
Hey Eric,
I have the same problem and, yes, it is very frustrating. In the messages
app, rather dictating or typing, the cursor seems to jump to the beginning
for no apparent reason and with no way of knowing that it has done so. As a
consequence, I sometimes end up with the end of a message at the beginning.
For me, this started with IOS7 and I have found no way around it, short of
yelling at the phone, which doesn't help but makes me feel better (just
kidding).
Thanks,
Scott Duck

If you do a single double tap. Listen to where it says insertion point at
end. Then you can dictate more

Tom,
That isn't always practicle because it does it even when I am typing,
sometimes even in the middle of a word.
