Re: Does anyone use iPhone apps for grocery shopping and grocery delivery
Hi. I just used the White & Yellow Pages app to look for supermarkets in your area and found a bunch of them, but I have no idea which ones are chain stores, as I haven't been around Independence in ages. On a whim, I checked out Piggly Wiggly, which lets you order online, but the site says that it takes ten to fifteen days for an online order to be processed. You have a Costco in your area, but I don't think they deliver. Too bad, because Costco's got great stuff. Give them a call, perhaps they might have changed recently. Amazon, interestingly enough, has recently gotten into the grocery delivery business and may be worth checking out. Maybe they contract with local markets so that you can get good locally-grown produce. I remember when I lived near Independence and the local produce was hard to beat. And Kansas City steaks? Can't find anything that'll match 'em out here in Los Angeles, no way. But I'm beginning to ramble, so I'd better get out of here. Good luck. Hi I do apologize for any ambiguations. Indeed. We used to have a Safeway but it was renamed to I think Summerfields years ago. Anyway back on topic, all the UK leading supermarkets have their own apps and they are accessible for the most part, Morrisons and Ocado to be the best in terms of accessibility. > On 20 Apr 2016, at 15:43, Robin Frost <robin...@gmail.com> wrote: > > Hi, > Just to clarify Tesco, Ocado, Morrison's and Asda are super markets in the UK. > the ones mentioned in the USA include Safeway, PeaPod and the local markets > with which it's affiliated, Shoprite, Fresh direct. > I hope that helps. > Robin > > > -Original Message- From: Lea W Langley > Sent: Wednesday, April 20, 2016 7:16 AM > To: viphone@googlegroups.com > Subject: Re: Does anyone use iPhone apps for grocery shopping and grocery > delivery > > Hi all, I went on the Tesco webpage to see if I could find out if it is > available in the United States. Hi, thank you for the help. I just checked with Safeway and they do not deliver in Independence Missouri which is where I live. I am not trying to take up room on the list I just want to share what information I find out. Peapod is also not available in my area. God bless, Wren Langley also Insta cart is not available either. It's a shame, because these apps really seem like they would be great. If anything ever changes I will let you all know just in case this might work for someone else. Please keep the suggestions coming, because I will check them all. Thank you. Re: Does anyone use iPhone apps for grocery shopping and grocery delivery
I've used the safeway.com web site for online grocery ordering for years now, and it's worked very well. Safeway used to have an "accessibility site", but it seems it's been merged with the main one, probably to eliminate the hassle of dual maintenance. In any case, the site is easy to use once you get the hang of it, and the Delivery app (which is related) works fine, too. It's a bit cumbersome for putting together really large orders, in my opinion. Fyi, the safeway.com web site and app are associated with Vons markets here in southern California, and I seem to recall recently reading that safeway.com may also be associated with Albertsons markets too, depending on your location. If you want to inquire about this, call 877-505-4040. I've found the customer service folks at that number to be quite friendly and helpful; they should be able to answer any questions you may have. Good luck with it. Online grocery ordering is really handy, especially for those times when you need to do a major stock-up and don't want the hassle of trying to haul a couple of carts full of groceries in Uber or by cab. Hi all, I went on the Tesco webpage to see if I could find out if it is available in the United States. I didn't want to sign in because I didn't want the cookies being used. Re: Does anyone use iPhone apps for grocery shopping and grocery delivery
Hi, Yes, Tesco is quite useable and good price. Ocado is a little more expensive but I do like their app very much. I tend to search for most of the items I want, whichever app I'm using and find this most efficient, apart from using my Favourites on occasions. Oh, the checking out is a bit of a pain with Ocado in that you get lots of offers coming at you, but you can bypass these by going to the bottoms of screens till you reach the final checkout, so it's not too bad and you can opt to use a four figurfe code instead of your password if you wish. If money is tight or important, I'd start with Tesco myself. Carol P On 20/04/2016 08:44, christopher hallsworth wrote: Hi I use the Tesco and Asda grocery apps to do my shopping. I use Kingsoopers. My meat and parishables are always excellent quality. I know what I hav e ordered, so don't have too much problem. However, if I find the unrecognized can, I will use cam find or digit-eyes. I love the service and cannot say enough good about it. If you have them delivered ask the delivery person to help you know what is what. I use the Kingsoopers app. It has a great shopping list feature. Re: Does anyone use iPhone apps for grocery shopping and grocery delivery
Hi, I find the app for PeaPod Delivers to be very user friendly in conjunction with VoiceOver as is their web site. though they're affiliated with Giant Super markets in some states note they are a national service which partners with different markets in the areas they serve. On their site they have a search wherein you can put your zip code to see if they service your area. I have ordered from them, from Fresh Direct and from www.netgrocer.com which is affiliated with Shoprite markets. All are quite usable in my opinion. I haven't anyone here to help me identify things but I too have an ID mate and I can count on one hand the canned or bottled goods it hasn't been able to identify for me. As for fresh perishables on rare occasions I'll get something that isn't to my liking and if it's bad enough I merely call and get a credit for the item in question but over-all they do rather well. Another helpful feature PeaPod at least offers are text and email notifications alerting you that within your delivery window your delivery is next as well as letting you know your driver has arrived. It's quite a handy feature for making one feel more secure. I hope that helps. Re: Does anyone use iPhone apps for grocery shopping and grocery delivery
This would be a good use of the TapTapSee app, for recognizing those cans or boxes of items. A good app for grocery delivery would be Instacart, which is not available in all points of the US. I've found that the prices on Instacart are a little higher than what you might find in the grocery store. It is an option though, and it supports Apple Pay if you have a newer iOS device with Touch ID capabilities. Does anyone use iPhone apps for grocery shopping and grocery delivery
Hi all, I am thinking of starting to have my groceries delivered. I have some questions though. I am totally blind and live by myself. I don't have a home care provider or anyone that comes in to do those things. I do have people who bring me grocery shopping, but I know that there are grocery delivery services and I thought about trying them. Here are my questions: If you do have groceries delivered, how do you know which items are which? If anyone has ordered fresh foods such as vegetables are they of good quality when you get them? How do you know what canned goods are what? I have triedany of the Apps for reading cans and packages. I also have an I D mate quest, but sometimes the items cannot be found either in the apps are on the quest. That is why I was asking how you know what is what. Any ideas opinions suggestions etc. would be greatly appreciated.
