Re: Everyone, What do you consider when choosing a phone?
When I bought my iPhone, I first considered price, then whether I could use it purely as a phone: overall sound, ease of entering name and phone numbers; how easy to dial out; how easy to answer; how easy to enter menu choices where that was an issue. Then came how easy to text message since I had a friend who seemed solely to contact people in that matter. Next came the use of aps that were really important to me, which meant Kindle at the time, and now which would include Bard and VDR. If I were to be pushed out of an iPhone through obsolescence, those would be the issues determining where to go. - Original Message - From: Phil philso1...@gmail.com To: viphone viphone@googlegroups.com Sent: Wednesday, April 08, 2015 10:22 AM Subject: Everyone, What do you consider when choosing a phone? Hi everyone, Hope you are doing well. I was wondering, what are some of the things you consider when buying a phone, either smartphone or basic phone? For example, some people must choose a phone that has physical keys, some people choose phone based on what blind-specific apps are on that platform, some people don't want touchscreen, and of course price. I'm doing a research and would love to know what are maybe top 5 to 7 things you consider. Just whatever things come to your mind right away. And please also kindly share with us what phone you're using now. It should be interesting to see how we choose our phone differently. Thanks a lot! Re: Everyone, What do you consider when choosing a phone?
I am using an iPhone 5S. I chose it because of the built-in accessibility and all the apps that work so well with VoiceOver. I use my computer much less now that I have the iPhone. At my work, we have clients who do not want a touch screen, but want speech output and access to their contacts, and text messages. One phone several people have chosen is the Odin VI. Re: Everyone, What do you consider when choosing a phone?
Hi I chose the iPhone for its built in text to speech, the number of accessible app that are available to aid me in my day to day life, the available memory storage and the fact that all of Apple's iDevices are so much similar in their useage, once I had mastered the use of my iPhone I had the knowledge necessary to be able to use an iPad or iPod. Donna. I have an iPhone 6 with 128gigs of memory. Hi everyone, Hope you are doing well. Re: Everyone, What do you consider when choosing a phone?
Good point. I started out with the iPod Touch 4th Generation just to see how I would get on with an accessible touch screen device. It didn't take me long to migrate to the iPhone 4 and the learning curve was hardly there apart from how to make and receive calls. There was a small learning curve when I upgraded to the iPhone 4s two years after that because of Siri. When I got the iPad Mini 2, there was a slightly bigger learning curve because of the larger screen and iPad specific features. Being I'm a quick learner it didn't take me long to grasp an iPad either.
