Re: Fleksy observation.

2012-08-24 Thread Michelle McQuigge
My own suggestion, for what it's worth, would be to set up some sort
of punctuation rotor comparable to the language rotor in the voiceover
settings. Through a system like that, users may be able to pick their
preferred punctuation marks and customize the list that appears with
the single right swipe. This may well be fanciful, but it seems like a
potential compromise. And I say this as someone who uses the current
punctuation configuration fairly happily and finds it an immeasurable
improvement over the system at work in the original version.
Another humble suggestion, if I may be so bold...Is it possible to
enable typical voiceover rotor settings in Fleksy? If I wanted to
write a tweet that includes a pasted link, for instance, I can't
currently drop the url into the message I prepare in the program - I
have to use a twitter client and type the entire tweet out with the
standard keyboard. A minor irritant, to be sure, but something I
thought I'd raise in case it's of interest to the developers.
If all of this is logistically impossible, please ignore me and carry on. :)

Best,
Michelle

Most of what I am hearing on this thread sounds like lack of experience,
rather than a flaw in the Fleksy design. I have no problem finding and
inserting any punctuation or numbers from the lists on the top row. It did
take me awhile to get used to this, but now I am extremely fast, much
faster than the ios key board, with symbols, numbers, and punctuation.

Remember, if you manually spell out a word, after you swipe right to enter
it into the text, swipe up to enter it into the dictionary. Then it will be
there the next time you need it.

I don't like the idea of having all punctuation in one column. Think of how
many symbols that would be. You'd be spending precious time flicking down just
to find what you wanted. Right now, all you have to do is remember what column
your punctuation is in and flick a few times instead of many times. I think the
current system is worth a little memorization. That's just my opinion..

Thanks for writing here.

We monitor the list sometimes, but please write to us at supp...@fleksy.com.

We are currently preparing the next version of Fleksy, and would like to

RE: Fleksy observation.

2012-08-24 Thread Rick Alfaro
Hi Sandy.

Not sure what you mean by toggling the input method. As it is now, you
already have the Fleksy method of typing along with using the more
traditional method of tapping and holding on a character. Tapping and
holding of course is a lot slower but you do get exactly what you want or at
least that has been my experience. One thing I have noticed which may be
something specific to my device is that I have to make the initial tap for
tap and hold quite a bit harder than I do to use the Fleksy method. Perhaps
you are having this issue as well?

Best,

Rick

2012-08-24 Thread Wayne Merritt
If you had the punctuation all in one list, and you have to swipe down
to get to a symbol like the dash, wouldn't it make that one list a lot
longer? It seems simpler to me to look on the row above the letters
for certain punctuation, but I also don't use Fleksy to write these
more advanced symbols a lot either. In any case, the current method
seems to make the most sense to me. Perhaps some of these finer points
could be made as options for certain users? But then the question of
where do you stop comes up. Another option would be to put all the
punctuation marks in one list like you suggest, but have the user
swipe up to get to the lesser used ones like the dash.

Just my thoughts,

RE: Fleksy observation.

2012-08-24 Thread Jon Pierson
Hi,
You'd have to prioritize the punctuation according to most common usage, and
as you said, it'd be a mighty long list considering that the more symbols
option in the IOS keyboard brings up a whole screenful of symbols.
I think there is just way too much punctuation to fit in a single column as
has been suggested here.
