Salut,

Merci beaucoup. I appreciate your offer.

However I actually just found an app that I think will really help me. It’s
called Braille Translator (on the Mac, not iPhone). You can type something in
French (or several other languages) and it’ll translate it into braille. It
supports French unified grade 2.

So I’m typing in words and phrases that I know and seeing how it translates
into braille. I’m shocked how many contractions there are.

Hello Brandon,
Maybe I can help you because I'm a french braille user. Sadly, I never heard
about specific apps to lurn french braille as english.
In french we have contraction for small word (le, la, de,...), for word
(jamais, parfois...) and finally sillabic conjonction (fr, ch, an,...).
What would you appreciate that I send you?

Re: French Braille on IOS?

2020-12-28 Thread Traci Duncan
Hi, I've been doing some Googling. One resource you may want to search is
AppleVis. I found one thread talking about learning French braille.

Here's another link that talks about iOs braille learning apps. Not sure if it
deals with other languages.
https://www.teachingvisuallyimpaired.com/braille-apps.html

Here is another resource of several braille codes, however I'm not seeing
French contractions.
https://www.pharmabraille.com/braille-codes/france-braille-code/

NFB has a lot of resources on this following link. Note, some of it may be
outdated.
https://www.nfb.org/images/nfb/publications/fr/fr28/fr2/fr280207.htm

:) This was a fun little research project. For my own personal interest, I may
cary on looking. I'm learning German and Italian, it hadn't occurred to me that
there may be braille contractions in those languages.

My last suggestion, is to look on Bard's braille downloads. Maybe there is
something there.

Good luck,
Traci

French Braille on IOS?

2020-12-28 Thread Brandon A. Olivares
Hi,

So I’m learning French, and so as such I’m trying to learn French braille as
well.

I found a reference for the accented characters, but I notice that there are
also contractions. Like when I type L by itself, it translates it to “le” (the
French word for “the”). I noticed quite a few others as well.

However I can’t seem to find a reference for this. Can anyone point me to an
extensive reference on French braille contractions that work on IOS?

Thanks,
Brandon
