Have you tried sharing via email? I just did this with my wife about a month or so back and I think I remember something about share by email. Nothing - it sounds like you've done everything correctly. Have you restarted both phones? If this is your first time using Airdrop, it might be worth a reset just to be sure everything is in order internally.
