RE: KNFB Reader Flashlight

2014-10-09 Thread Ron Pelletier
Hi,

If I am using it relatively close to a ceiling light, I find I don't need
it. If the room is not bright, which I have no way of knowing until my
recognition is not good, the flash is extremely important. When I'm in an
area I don't know, I always use the flash in order not to have to take
another picture.

Having said all that, when possible, I try not to use the flash too much
because it can kill the battery quite quickly on my 5S. I guess that's one
of the reasons why some people are going for the 6 plus.

Hello,

Do you find the flashlight setting useful? I'm not sure whether to enable it
or not. If I have an overhead light on, do I need the flashlight?

Thanks,
Brandon

I would suggest the Light Detector app for $0.99.
You could check the lighting before trying a scan.

Re: KNFB Reader Flashlight

2014-10-09 Thread Alex Hall
I usually have the flash set to automatic, and the flashlight always on. Even
with overhead lights and light detectors, most blind people can't be sure they
aren't casting a shadow on part of the page. With the light from the phone,
this problem is eliminated and the light on the document is much more uniform.
