Hi,
the group site for macvisionaries is
http://groups.google.com/group/macvisionaries. Just a quick FYI, its called a
Mac Mini. :). No, windows and applications do not need to be closed before
shutting down a Mac. Actually, there is a setting were you can have your Mac
reopen opened windows and apps after a restart. But to close a window, press
command W. To Close an app, press command Q. As far as accessing content on
the web, you need to navigate to the html content area, and interact.
Interacting is done with control option, shift, and the down arrow pressed at
the same time. One thing, Mac minis work best with Voiceover when attached to
a monitor or television. I’m not sure if you were aware of this or not. You
can find a lot of getting started podcasts from vision Australia at
http://www.visionaustralia.org/living-with-low-vision/learning-to-live-independently/using-technology-and-computers/help-yourself!-technology-podcasts-and-resources/computer-access.
