Re: New unwanted dictation behavior

2015-09-19 Thread 'carol.pearso...@googlemail.com' via VIPhone
I haven't noticed that one yet with my 4S, but Siri is certainly slower in
responding to my wanting to dictate.

I've also asked a couple of questions and, as before, she's just found
something on the web for me to see, which is not really what I appreciate
when in a hurry; so I'm not madly imnpressed with the Siri upgrade so far.

Oh, in addition, when I didn't dictate (having to stop just after I'd
pressed the button) she said, "I didn't get that; I do hope we can still be
friends", I think those were her words.

Incidentally, I did the same as you, because I don't *have* to do everything
with my 4S and am soon to get my 6S, so, whilst I've already submitted a
report about the keyboard not working in edit boxes, I have to say that the
4S is certainly more responsive than I've known it for a while now.. ...
That's got to be positive!

Subject: New unwanted dictation behavior

I have read that iOS 9 doesn't weigh in with the annoying double repetition
when you do dictation. I am all in favor of that.
I upgraded my for S to iOS 9. It's old and slow, so I figured if it went
down, it would not be a big loss. So I just tried dictating a comment into
the Facebook post I wanted to make using my for S. And Siri started reading
back to me what I was saying before I was through. Not only was this
disconcerting, it screwed up what got put into my note. Is there anyway to
shut that off? I want it to tell me what I said, but I want it to wait till
I'm through. Is this just a problem because I'm using an old phone that
barely made the cut for iOS 9? Or is this a new so-called feature? How many
people do you know who like to hear back what they're saying while they're
still saying it? That is a skill that interpreters half. I'm not an
interpreter. Smile.

Actually, I hadnn't had that problem up until today. I turned my phone off,
and then back on, then everything was fine. I am using an iPhone 6.

Re: New unwanted dictation behavior

2015-09-18 Thread Mary Otten
Well, this was the first time I had attempted any dictation on my for S since
upgrading. But the phone has been off and on the couple of times prior to this
attempt. I guess I will turn it off and on again to see if that helps. At this
point, I'm thinking of updating my 5S but haven't yet found the iPhone in
iTunes. What fun.
