Hi Steven,

Try this...

1. Beginning with your iDevice turned off, press the Home button once to
turn on the device.
2. Now take a single finger and quickly single-tap the very center of the
iDevice. You will probably hear a little sound effect, but it is not
important if you do not.
3. Now take 3-fingers and quickly execute a slide from the left of the
screen across to the right of the screen.
4. You should be placed on your Home screen.

It takes you to the last app that was open on your phone, so if you
shut down the phone with an app still open, that's where the
three-finger swipe from left to right will take you.

Re: Quicker Way to Unlock Phone

2014-05-13 Thread Joseph FreeTech
Hi Eileen,

Sorry for my confusion as I'm not quite understanding your question, but if
you're asking if one can use this procedure to bypass the 4-digit pin
prompt, I'm sorry but it can't be done.

As an alternative, I find that on the pin prompt screen, I use the rotor
gesture to switch to Handwriting and simply draw the numbers on the
screen. I do this because when using VoiceOver as I enter my pin, VoiceOver
speaks each number, and I actually would rather no one hear my pin as I
enter it when in public. By switching to handwriting I can actually enter my
pin quickly, accurately, and most importantly, without anyone hearing
anything. Smile. As an additional tip I find that using my right hand's
index and middle fingers to execute the rotor gesture is much faster and
easier than using forefinger and thumb.

As a suggestion, you might want to try setting your iOS device to request a
pin after a set amount of time. For example, I normally set my iOS device to
only ask me for a pin if 4 hours have elapsed. I'm always at home and using
my iOS device, so I never really reach the 4-hour point, which means I only
enter a pin after waking up in the morning.

When I leave my home I set the pin prompt to request a pin after 15 minutes
or 1 hour depending on the location--restaurant being safer than down town.
Smile. While not 100% secure, if I lose my iDevice I am semi-secure the
person who either stole my iOS device or found it forgotten on a restaurant
table will not have enough time to take it home and try to extract my
personal information such as contacts etc. Smile.

Similarly, you might want to consider setting your phone to request a pin
only after 4 hours has elapse. Try this:
Settings Passcode.
Require pass code: after X hours

Re: Quicker Way to Unlock Phone

2014-05-13 Thread Joseph FreeTech
Hi,

I'm not sure I understand, but if you are conveying you can't tell when the
phone is turned on once you have completely powered it down then restarted
it by pressing and holding the power button, try this:

Important: be absolutely sure you know and remember your PIN number before
trying any of the following.

1. Press and hold the power button for about 4 seconds to completely shut
down. It takes about 40-seconds for your iOS device to be completely turned
off. By completely shut down I mean the phone is in a state similar to
what happens when you shut down your Windows computer and not just put it in
sleep mode.

2. After you have waited the 40 seconds for your iOS device to have been
powered down, you can now press and hold the power button at the top of your
iOS device. Hold the power button for about 3 or 4 seconds then let the
power button go.

3. After about 30 seconds you will hear your iOS device begin speaking. It
will speak the time or something on your lock screen. It will then
automatically fall into sleep mode after about 2 seconds. No problem as this
is what happens when you use your iOS device then put it down--it falls into
sleep mode after a little while of non-use.

4. Quickly tap and release either the power button or Home button to turn on
your device. either find and double-tap the Unlock button, or you can use
the gestures we've been discussing. You will be asked for your PIN so enter
it.

5. Your phone should be powered up and ready to go.

You are still on iOS 6, right? There is no more Slide to Unlock control in
iOS 7, just an Unlock button and while it's not hard to find, it's not quite
as quick and easy as the slide to unlock bar was in iOS 6.

To be honest, I find that putting one finger on the slide to unlock feature,

Near bottom-left, then tapping with a second finger, does the biz as quick
as is practical for me.

Important: be absolutely sure you know and remember your PIN number before

 1. Press and hold the power button for about 4 seconds to completely shut

 2. After you have waited the 40 seconds for your iOS device to have been

 4. Quickly tap and release either the power button or Home button to turn on

the gestures we've been discussing. You will be asked for your PIN so enter

Yes, you're right, there is absolutely no information conveyed as to what is
happening when your phone is going through the powering up procedure.

Just know that if you are wanting to turn on your phone after having it
completely powered down, you need only press and hold the power button for
about 4 seconds then release it. Now wait about 40 seconds or until your
iPhone begins talking.

 Hi Joe,

If you're running iOS 7.0 or later, from the lock screen, you can also flick
from left to right with three fingers and that should unlock your phone put
you on the home screen. Hope that helps.

If you're going to use the three-finger swipe method, you migt want to first
touch in the middle of the screen.

Re: Quicker Way to Unlock Phone

2014-05-08 Thread Alex Hall
If this is an iPhone5S, you also have the option of using Touch ID. Press the
home or poet button to wake up the phone, then put your finger on the home
button (without pressing) for a second and it unlocks. You must set this up
first, but wow is it convenient!
