Do you have any idea/s what the trigger to this type of behavior might be?

RE: Absolutely horrendous iPhone SE Second Generation Problem

2021-05-14 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Screen recognition can result in strange issues, in Facebook, for example, it
causes all the tabs along th ebotton to disappear and the odd time when I
accidently turned it on it took me a bit to finally figure out what happened.
However, as Christopher said, it is not useless since there are apps which
would be completely inaccessible it it were not for screen recognition. We use
3CX at my retail store for our phone system. It's an open-source VoIP platform
and their iOS app is useless with
Voiceover except that after you turn on screen recognition in that app it
becomes extremely useable.

Best regards,
Sieghard

Just an aside, but I don’t find screen recognition or describe images useless.
Lots of times it’s just interesting to see what sighted people see or what my
phone looks like, but it’s also been helpful in a few situations. I agree that
it’s nice it’s a toggle so people can turn it off, and I get that some people
won’t like it, but I wouldn’t call it useless even if I didn’t use it.

Re: Absolutely horrendous iPhone SE Second Generation Problem

2021-05-14 Thread Gerardo Corripio
I don’t know if it’s the same thing that happened to me last week with mine? I
was on Speaker hone, and suddenly I heard this buzzing sound! I thought there
for a few milliseconds that the internal speaker had gone bad! But the weird
thing was, when I connected the wired Earpods voiceover and the sounds were
heard normal! So I was on the verge of rebooting the phone, when upon a few
disconnects and connecting the Earpods, the SE 2nd, went back to normal! The
internal speaker worked again! Nevertheless I rebooted the phone just to be on
the same side, and fortunately, this hasn’t hapened again! Upon Googling, I see
this problem happened on some models of iPhone 7? Do you guys remember or
experienced this?

Re: Absolutely horrendous iPhone SE Second Generation Problem

2021-05-13 Thread Richard Turner
It sounds like you could have turned on the new, useless, screen recongnition
and/or describe images.
Or, you got braille screen input on.
I doubt it has to do with Voice Control; but who knows.
I'm not sure what the chirping sound is but it sounds like something being
eneabled or disabled.
Best of luck.

Good day all:
As the subject indicates, I have an iPHone SE Second Generation, running the
latest software, that up until several hours ago, was absolutely fine.
Suddenly, as I was changing my display name in my Zoom app, a bizarre chirping
noise sounded, followed several seconds later by the same sound. Seemingly
simultaneously, I became unable to use dictation or the text field to change my
name, even though it said “editing”.
I tried in the Safari address bar. Same result.
I rebooted the phone. Same thing.
I called Apple. I was told to go to my Settings and restore settings. When it
came time to put in my passcode . . . you guess it . . . the same thing
happened, and I was unable to complete the restore.
So off to my MacBook. (I luckily had a recent iCloud backup. I restored
settings. Input all the needed information to get to the restore from backup
process. All went smoothly. I put in a passcode. Tried using an edit field in
messages and other places. Same weird sound, same inability to type, though at
the moment dictation is working.
However, this is obviously not sustainable.
Please advise. I suspect this is a Genius Bar appointment, but I don’t even
know if Apple is having people come to physical stores yet. Has anyone heard of
this? Is there a fix? A workaround? Thanks.
Christine
