Re: Accessible camera for dog's collar

2017-01-08 Thread Scott Dollar

Hi Adrienne,

The cheapest GoPro camera is GoPro Session that is about $200. The latest
newest model is Hero5 Session from GoPro. You can learn more about it from
the GoPro website. Then you will also look in the accessories on the GoPro
website which it will which accessories are compatible for the cameras.

Hope this also help you and just a thought. I do understand what is best
for you.

Cheers,

Scott Dollar

Thanks both.

I had been looking on Amazon at that camera, but it seemed to be
considerably more expensive than some of the other options. However,
something can be as cheap as it likes, but if it doesn’t work, it doesn’t
matter how cheap it is, does it?

RE: Accessible camera for dog's collar

2017-01-08 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I think the point is that with a Go Pro you have it recording whenever you are
out and about, if somebody is cursing you out for being blind and slowing down
traffic or if you are trying to get help and people are standing around
ignoring you having to pull out your phone and starting to record video may be
quite awkward.
I actually think it's a pretty cool idea, I have several times been at an
intersection with a pedestrian light where I pushed the button and the signal
was beeping for me to go and a car just blasted through right in front of me.
If I had a Go Pro on my dog or the harness I'd just have to point it the right
direction and there would be a pretty good chance I would get the rear license
plate and since they record audio as well it would be pretty clear cut when a
car is going through the intersection while my walk light is beeping. Since I
scuba dive and do lots of other outdoor stuff one of these cameras would
probably find other uses with me.

Sieghard

Pardon me if I’m missing something here, but why can’t the video capabilities

The article mentions he used a Go Pro which is probably the most popular camera
people use for capturing outdoor activities, they can be attached to helmets
when cycling, skiing or kayaking and I guess it wouldn’t be too hard to attach
one to the dog or the harness. Video is recorded on an SD card, just check out
the GoPro website and/or Amazon.

Hello

Many of you may have seen this article about a blind person who attached a
camera to his guide dog’s collar to log discriminatory behaviour.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/disability-38027203

What I would like to know is if anyone has any experience of such devices and
can recommend one which is easily accessible in terms of its operation and how
to download relevant images either onto my iPhone, or my Mac.

Thanks

Adrienne
