I wonder if you can set a pass code and then turn it off in Settings and then
hopefully it will work the way you want it to.

After installing IOS 11.2 I encountered the usual setup screen, wanting me to
set up a finger print and pass code. it is my choice not to do this. Before you
tell me it is so important to do this, I say it is my choice, and i accept the
responsability for it. However, Apple does not seem to want me to have that
choice. Almost every time I start my phone I get a nag wanting me to set up
finger print and pass code. i am given the option of deferring this, but then I
get the nag again the next time I start my phone. Is there a way to defeat the
nag permantly, or at least until the next IOS upgrade? I feel that what
security options i use, or do not use should be my choice.

2017-12-04 Thread Ekstrand, Pamela A. -ND
I do not currently have the passcode enabled. After I upgraded, I was getting
the reminder to set up my passcode and finish setup quite often also.

After ignoring the message for several days, I chose the "Finish Setup" button
that was part of this message, and chose not to set up the passcode. Since
then, I have not been prompted again to set it up. So, I would suggest seeing
if one of the options you see the next time you get this message is to finish
setup.

Re: Apple Denies You the Choice

2017-12-04 Thread John Panarese
I thought it only asks you a few times, but then goes away. I have a few
clients who prefer not having touch ID or even a Passcode in use. That is their
choice.

Re: Apple Denies You the Choice

2017-12-04 Thread Mary Otten
I don’t know if this is different for phones and iPads, and I do have a
passcode and touch ID both for my phone. For my iPad mini, I don’t. And I never
get snagged ever. And I have upgraded to 11.2.

2017-12-04 Thread Daniel Miller
Unfortunately, you need to at least set up a passcode for the alert to go away.
There’s no way to get around it.
