Re: Comparable App

2012-11-01 Thread Raul A. Gallegos
Hello all, this thread is a perfect example of an inappropriate named
one. Jim, I'm not picking on you specifically here. Especially because
yours isn't the only message of this type which has been posted of late.
However I really really really need to stress to everyone on list that
appropriate subject lines be used. This will greatly help those who have
a lot of email from this list and others to go through be more
efficient. A better subject line might be, a word processing iOS app
comparable to the PC. It's possible that someone who knows nothing about
word processing apps will read this because it doesn't give a
description. Then they will be annoyed because they wasted their time.
Or, the other more important one, it's possible that someone will have
an answer to a great word processing app, but they might skip this
generic sounding subject line and then you might not get a really good
answer.

I hope this helps.

RE: Comparable App

2012-10-31 Thread Richard Turner
Right, I also use Office 2003. The compatibility addon is free from
Microsoft to allow word 2003 to read and save in the docx format.
In my world I had to install that addon because too many people had moved on
to Office 2007 and now 2010 and I couldn't read anything they sent to me.
I have no plans to upgrade to 2007 or 2010 because I hate the way they
handle Email and I'm not overly fond of the ribbon stuff, though I function
with it at work where we have to use Office 2010.

RE: Comparable App

2012-10-31 Thread Richard Turner
Yes, I believe that is correct.
It used to be only Google Doc format, so this is a big improvement.
He added the ability to sync with DropBox and use the .docx format for that.
Just remember that tabs and other formatting will be stripped out at this
point. They are just plain text files with a .docx extension.

RE: Comparable App

2012-10-30 Thread Richard Turner
The key to remember about NoteMaster is that the formatting is not saved.
it is just a plain text file wrapped up in a docx file.
If you have tabs, or centered kinds of formatting, that will probably be
stripped out.
Having said that, I like the app very much.

Pages is the only accessible app. Note Master is a text editor that saves
and accesses docx formatted files through Dropbox.

Hi there,

Does anyone have any recommendation for a comparable app to what would be a
full fledged word processor on a PC? My goal is to be able to write
documents such as letters or short things on my IOS device. It would be
nice to then either upload or email them to my computer or even print them
out. It would also be nice to be able to read MS Word documents on my
IPhone with such an app.

I will be traveling out of town soon and will need to do some writing, but
if I can only take an IDevice rather than a full laptop, that would be
grand.

I have IA Writer, but that's just a text editor.

So, any good word processor apps?

Jim
