Re: Downcast update to fix audio playback issue
I just downloaded and installed an update to Downcast this morning. I was previously experiencing problems playing a particular podcast, not sure if it affected others, but as far as I can tell, that issue appears to be resolved now. I’m not sure what the original problem mentioned here happen to be, but as for my own, it would play about two minutes of a given podcast, than stop, even though Downcast said there was more than an hour left. RE: Downcast Update
Hi Mark. I had thought the problem was partially resolved but nope, I'm still seeing music start playing when I try starting and stopping playback in Downcast. For the record, I do not have the music app open when this occurs. I'll try opening it as well, as you suggest below, to see if that changes the behavior. For reporting this to Apple, is this something that affects everyone, or just Voiceover users? i.e. is two-finger double tap just a Voiceover gesture? Chris At 02:31 PM 9/18/2015, you wrote: Hello Chris, I just updated to the latest version of Downcast, released today, and cannot reproduce the problem you describe. That is to say, a two-finger, double-tap, does, indeed, stop and start playback of the current podcast episode, as it has always done. As for the random incidence of music being played as the result of the two-finger, double-tap gesture intended for a third-party app such as Downcast or BARD Mobile, I suggest the following: 1. Close the third-party app, 2. Assuming that the native Music app is not running, launch it. 3. Now launch the third-party app, such as Downcast. 4. Start playback of a third-party media file such as a podcast episode using the play-/pause button. 5. Now, stop and start playback using the two-finger, double-tap gesture. Finally, As I have encountered the non-intentional music playback problem from within several third-party apps I would argue that this problem is one that exists at the OS level and is not app-specific. Re: Downcast Update
Hello, I am encountering the issue of a two finger double tap not stopping or starting playback in the latest version of downcast. I also encountered this issue in the previous version as well. I believe that it is an iOS9 issue. The problem did not appear to happen till I upgraded my 6+ to the new iOS. I do not remember encountering this problem in iOS 7 or earlier. Re: Downcast Update
Hi Chris, I too just updated to the version that came out today and the two finger start and stop is working again. I tested it with the app opened on screen, closed, and on the locked screen and the two finger tap to pause and resume worked in all areas. > On Sep 18, 2015, at 2:31 PM, M. Hello Chris, I just updated to the latest version of Downcast, released today, and cannot reproduce the problem you describe.
