Re: Downloading entire Bookshare library at once

This is what I thought. I was surprised that people were wanting to keep and
sync hundreds of books. I’m glad to know I can access my Bookshare history
though.

Take care,

Not only do I think the downloading of an entire library not possible, I don't
think Bookshare would want it to be possible. I think I remember reading in one
of their policy statements that their reason for being was not so that people
could amass their own private library, rather to have access to books one
wanted to read in the present or immediate future, then delete them. One can
access their book history, and also keep reading lists on Bookshare itself, but
Bookshare is meant to be a service from which one can have a library from
which one can borrow books, then delete them, as opposed to Kindle, or Audible,
where one purchases them.

Hello list,

So, I’ve been a member of Bookshare since it started around 2002 or 2003.
I’ve downloaded probably thousands of books in this time. In the process of
doing so, the older format is not compatible with apps like VoiceDreamReader on
iOS or the book quality has since been replaced by a better formatted/scanned
version. That and I may have some books here and others there. This and that
backup on the cloud or external drive, etc.

My question is… is there in fact a way to download my entire book history
in one shot or am I looking at a labor intensive task sifting through God knows
how many titles that stretch back over ten years?

Would appreciate any info on whether this can be accomplished in a
reasonable manner.

I’m a Windows user, but my main reading device is the iPhone these days. I
would ideally like to get everything on my PC first and then upload to the
iPhone.

Thanks,

Cristobal

I don't think it's possible. It'd be like me trying to download my
entire Previously Downloaded list from BARD; for that you'd need to
add each book individually to the Wish List and then download them one
by one. I've got at least eight years worth of books on that list. :)

I know that they're two different services, but think they're the same
in at least that respect.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

More Later,
Dani

I don't think this is possible.

Hello list,

So, I’ve been a member of Bookshare since it started around 2002 or
2003. I’ve downloaded probably thousands of books in this time. In the
process of doing so, the older format is not compatible with apps like
VoiceDreamReader on iOS or the book quality has since been replaced by
a better formatted/scanned version. That and I may have some books
here and others there. This and that backup on the cloud or external
drive, etc.

My question is… is there in fact a way to download my entire book
history in one shot or am I looking at a labor intensive task sifting
through God knows how many titles that stretch back over ten years?

Would appreciate any info on whether this can be accomplished in a
reasonable manner.

I’m a Windows user, but my main reading device is the iPhone these
days. I would ideally like to get everything on my PC first and then
upload to the iPhone.

Thanks,

Cristobal
