Hi Rose, I think there were a couple steps omitted but here's what works here under Win7. 1. Press the Windows key to bring up the search box. 2. Press right arrow (you should hear Shutdown. 3. Downarrow (or press the letter M several times if necessary) until you hear Music. 4. Press enter. 5. Press the letter I until you hear iTunes. 6. Press Enter. 7. Press the letter I again until you hear iTunes Media. 8. press enter. In this folder are subfolders for Music Tones Podcasts etc. 9. Press the letter a until you hear automatically add to iTunes. 10. Press enter. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Rose Combs Sent: Tuesday, March 19, 2013 8:35 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: RE: Finding Automatically Add to iTunes folder was Re: Voice Over friendly ring tone app Not working here, I get to the iTunes folder, if I press enter it opens iTunes, if I press context is asks if I want to open and blah, blah. There is a setting in preferences in itunes for where your music will go and I think it refers to this folder, because once I took it out and later put it back. can't gelll you exactly where the preference choice is though. Vicki MEizinger On 3/20/2013 3:09 AM, Sieghard Weitzel wrote: Hi Rose, As I mentioned, Sherry's directions missed one step. The Automatically Add to iTunes Folder is not in the main iTunes folder, but in the iTunes Media folder which is a folder inside your iTunes folder. It seems as if you have a bunch of music in the main Windows Music folder itself. I prefer to have all my music organized by artist and album, e.g. I have folders for Dire Straits, Gordon Lightfoot, Supertramp, The Beatles just to name some examples. In, for example, the Dire Straits folder I have subfolders for the various albums like Love Over Gold, Brothers in Arms and so on. In addition to the Automatically Add to iTunes folder, the iTunes Media folder also contains folders for the various media types you can have like Audio Books, Movies, TV Shows, Music, Ringtones etc. All my folders for the various groups and artists I have are in the Music folder that is inside the iTunes Media folder so that if I go to the Start Menu, then arrow right and down to Music, the only folder I have in the Music folder Windows creates is iTunes. It sounds to me like your folders could use a good cleaning up, but I also know that if things work that this can be a daunting task. If you want a shortcut for your desktop to point to your iTunes Media folder, I could make one for you and email it to you privately as an attachment. The only thing I would need to know is what your Windows user name is, here is an example what the path is on my computer: C:\users\sieghard\music\iTunes\iTunes Media Regards, Sieghard -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Rose Combs Sent: Tuesday, March 19, 2013 9:03 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: RE: Finding Automatically Add to iTunes folder was Re: Voice Over friendly ring tone app OK, I found the folder for iTunes but there is no automatically add folder there and the context menu does say to add a shortcut but when I tried that it added another iTunes icon. I guess I should have mentioned that I am hanging onto iTunes version 10 and the Automatically add to iTunes folder is directly in the iTunes folder in that version. When I press i for the iTunes folder inside the music folder, I open iTunes, if I press the context key I get the options to open, export and so forth. I am not seeing the media folders inside, and I installed it without making changes in the folder structure. I seldom if ever change folders, if a program sets them up I don't mess with them in about 99% of the cases. If I open the music folder itself I end up on If I could Read Your Mind by Gordon Lightfoot. I changed nothing, just imported music I had in Windows Media player into iTunes about four years ago. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Sieghard Weitzel Sent: Monday, March 18, 2013 9:44 AM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: RE: Finding Automatically Add to iTunes folder was Re: Voice Over friendly ring tone app Hi Rose and Sherry, Rose, Sherry's description is almost correct except that all the folders where your media is stored like Audio Books, Music, Ringtones, Movies (if you have any) etc. are in a folder called iTunes Media. iTunes Media is in the iTunes folder and the iTunes folder is in your Music folder. It is true that it is not very professional, but if you're looking for fun ring tones then this is the best one that I have found. When you mentioned emailing the ringtones to yourself, are you meaning on the regular PC or everything from the iPhone? It is my understanding in order for ringtones to be added successfully, they need to be done via iTunes on the computer. Although, there is a way to do it from the iPhone since you can purchase ring tones from the iTunes app in the iPhone itself. I have never done this since I have never purchased music or tones from iTunes. So I admit that I do not have much experience with this. I always make my own ring tones or get them from an app like the one I suggested. On Mar 16, 2013, at 3:52 PM, Sherrie nanagoose4...@gmail.com wrote: Thanks for this heads up. RE: Finding Automatically Add to iTunes folder was Re: Voice Over friendly ring tone app
I have the automatically add to iTunes folder on my computer. My girlfriend, who uses her own computer, needed a song added to iTunes. I quickly discovered she didn't have the folder. I don't know why some people get this folder, and others don't. I used the add file to library feature from the file menu to add the music to my girlfriend's machine. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Rose Combs Sent: Tuesday, March 19, 2013 11:03 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: RE: Finding Automatically Add to iTunes folder was Re: Voice Over friendly ring tone app OK, I found the folder for iTunes but there is no automatically add folder there and the context menu does say to add a shortcut but when I tried that it added another iTunes icon. This computer seems to love to hide things, and I know I got the Windows 7 before I installed iTunes for the first time in august of 2010, for weeks before that I had been putting some of my mother's best CE's on my computer after she passed on and I know it took hours to import from Media Player to iTunes. As Sherry pointed out, after you press the Start menu in Windows 7 arrow right once, then arrow down and you should find your Documents folder, Music Folder, Pictures folder etc. I think by default they all show up, you can hide them in that list, but unless you specifically do so they should be there. If you use the default settings when you installed iTunes, the iTunes folder also will always be in the Music folder. There really is no difference between the folder and file structure in Windows 7 and Windows XP except that in Windows 7 usually the music folder is called Music and in Windows XP it was My Music. Same goes for Documents/My Documents and Pictures/My Pictures. Remember, all these folders are stored in c:\users\Rose (assuming your Windows user name is Rose. If you simply press the Start Key and type c: and then press enter, you can then type u for users, r for Rose and this is another way to get to your personal folders. Once you download them using the app they show up in the file sharing section of iTunes when your phone is connected. You get 10 free downloads and adds. If you upgrade to no ads then you also get unlimited downloads. The cost for that is $1.99. Have fun.
