RE: Focus 14 Blue and iPhone

2014-05-26 Thread Terrie Terlau
I want to thank all of you who offered good suggestions on my problem with
the braille keys on the focus 4 not working with iOS 6 on an iPhone 5. I
called FS Tech Support and they were of absolutely no help at all! I told
them that everything else worked except the braille keys and they had no
idea. So I read the manual from start till I found the info. I had
inadvertently locked the keyboard. I unlocked it per the manual instructions
and it works wonderfully. I share this egg-on-my-face anecdote in case it is
helpful to anyone else whose Perkins keys don't work on their display with
an iOS device. Make sure the keys are unlocked!!! I am very disappointed
with FS Tech Support for not asking if my keys were locked and telling me
how to unlock them. I did not know that this was an option at the time.
Best,
Terrie Terlau

Did this command ever work for you?

I'm running iOS 7 on an iPhone 4s and the dots 1 and 4 chords work
perfectly. What I'm wondering is since you are running an older
version of iOS, maybe this command is new in iOS 7.

But to answer your question, you will not lose data if you perform a
reset. Have you tried turning the phone off and back on? Or
re-establishing the pairing?

You can get the list of refreshabraille specific hot keys from the
 following
 link.

 http://tech.aph.org/rbd_doc.htm

To copy text, you need to be editing in a field. You can do a rotor
forward with space-56 until it says edit. Then swipe down with space-6
 until
it says select all. Then double tap by pressing one of the cursor routing
keys. Next swipe down again with space-6 until it says copy. then activate
copy with a double tap pressing a cursor routing key. Now the text has
been
copied to the clipboard. The next step is to go into the app you will be
pasting it into. Once you are in the new edit field and are editing,
again,
repeat the steps above, but instead of choosing select all, choose paste
 and
then when you press the cursor routing key for a double tap, the text will
be pasted into the edit field you are in.

 Hope that helps.

RE: Focus 14 Blue and iPhone

2014-05-26 Thread Terrie Terlau
Hi Wayne and all,
I am pasting the quote from the User's Guide that saved my sanity (grin)!
Hope this helps anyone else who is ever in my position.
To lock the Focus Blue keyboard, press the Power button to display the
status information and then simultaneously press a Cursor Router and the
left Mode button. To indicate that the keyboard is locked, DOTS 2-3-4-6-7-8
and DOTS 1-3-5-6-7-8 will be displayed in two cells toward the right end of
the display, just before the connection status. Press any other control to
return to normal operation. Once locked, pressing DOTS 1 through 8 or the
SPACEBAR will no longer send keystrokes through to the computer.

To unlock the keyboard so you can once again enter text or perform commands
from the Focus Blue, press the Power button to display the status
information and then simultaneously press a Cursor Router and the right Mode
button. Press any other control to return to normal operation and you can
once again enter text using the Focus Blue keyboard.

2014-02-25 Thread Alex Hall
You can't, as far as I know. To close apps you must double tap and hold, and
there is no gesture for that. In iOS7 this is possible, because apps are closed
with a three-finger flick up, but not in iOS6 or below.
