RE: IoS 14.5 won't let me get past the code pages

2021-04-29 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
And that is why there is Touch Id on older phones and Face Id on newer ones, it
is still super easy to unlock your phone even with a secure 6-digit passcode
since 9 out of 10 times or better you can unlock with finger print or Face Id
and you only have to type in the passcode from time to time.

Four digits is enough for me. I don't have anything on my iPhone that anyone
would want anyway. All I've got on my iPhone is loads of audio books from
bard. I've got 1492 audio books from bard. That takes up about 229 gigs of my
iPhone 8.

RE: IoS 14.5 won't let me get past the code pages

2021-04-29 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
It's not only about if there is anything important on the phone or not. If your
iPhone is stolen and it is not protected with a passcode or if the passcode is
so simple the thief can guess it then that phone can very easily be resold. If
the phone is protected with a strong passcode it is essentially worthless
except as a parts phone, e.g. they can sell it for a few bucks to somebody who
will sell off the parts, but it is much less attractive for some guy to steel
an iPhone which most likely is locked. Also, the Find my iPhone feature may be
of use if they don't power down the iPhone.

RE: IoS 14.5 won't let me get past the code pages

2021-04-28 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Your pass code should be something that makes sense to you and you alone,
But not your date of birth or that of someone close to you,

Or at least that is what is suggested,

I would also use more than 4 characters if possible.

Like on my phone I use 6 characters from an id number that relates to me but
that I haven’t used in 20 years.

It would be something someone could figure out if they new where to look for
the details.

The steps are:

One, open settings, Touch ID and Passcode.

2. enter your passcode.

3. Find the button that says Turn Off passcode and double tap.

4. You will have to confirm you want to do this on the next screen.

5. You will be asked for your Apple ID password, enter it and activate turn
off passcode again.

Lastly, you will have to enter your passcode again before it will actually turn
it off.

I just did it and rebooted and it stay off.

Now, I recreated it because I want the protection of a passcode.

There wasn’t such a button. Now that I’ve got it, I can’t get rid of it. I did
find in settings what I thought was going to be a place to turn it off but when
I restarted the phone, it required my 6-digit pass code. I’m very disappointed.
This is going to make the phone much harder for my wife to use and learn on.

You need a good strong passcode. The only time I would make my passcode
or something like that is if I were taking the phone for repair. It would be a
security risk for them to have your actual passcode.

Thanks Richard. Great steps. I thought I’d gone through that earlier
but when I followed your steps exactly, it worked. It asked for my passcode
instead of password but entered it and it took. Again, Thanks.

The steps are:

One, open settings, Touch ID and Passcode.

2. enter your passcode.

3. Find the button that says Turn Off passcode and double tap.

4. You will have to confirm you want to do this on the next screen.

5. You will be asked for your Apple ID password, enter it and activate
turn off passcode again.

Lastly, you will have to enter your passcode again before it will
actually turn it off.

I just did it and rebooted and it stay off.

Now, I recreated it because I want the protection of a passcode.

Same thing happened once; I guess certain codes because of the shape or layout

2021-04-28 Thread Dennis Long
You need a good strong passcode. The only time I would make my passcode
or something like that is if I were taking the phone for repair. It would be a
security risk for them to have your actual passcode.

Yes.

There should have been a "Passcode Options" button, after pressing
that, the last item should be skip, or don't use, something like that.

Yes.

There should have been a "Passcode Options" button, after pressing that, the
last item should be skip, or don't use, something like that.

Worse case, create a simple passcode, then after you are through that stage, go
to the settings for passcodes and fingerprints and enter the passcode, then go
and turn it off, which will ask you to enter it again.

Once you have jump through those lovely hoops, you will be done with the
passtcode.

On my end,it didn’t ask me for my Apple ID; only before reaching the options of
adding Fingerprints, change Pass Code, etc., it wanted me to enter, in my case,
my 4-digit code. However, I wasn’t able to make the virtual numpad appear! I
used the Braille-Input to enter the code.

Yes.

There should have been a "Passcode Options" button, after pressing that, the
last item should be skip, or don't use, something like that.

Worse case, create a simple passcode, then after you are through that stage, go
to the settings for passcodes and fingerprints and enter the passcode, then go

I have a really easy passcode going around the edge of the keypad. If you have

Once you have jump through those lovely hoops, you will be done with the
passtcode.

Thanks Richard. Great steps. I thought I’d gone through that earlier but when I
followed your steps exactly, it worked. It asked for my passcode instead of
password but entered it and it took. Again, Thanks.

The steps are:

One, open settings, Touch ID and Passcode.

2. enter your passcode.

3. Find the button that says Turn Off passcode and double tap.

4. You will have to confirm you want to do this on the next screen.

5. You will be asked for your Apple ID password, enter it and activate turn
off passcode again.

Lastly, you will have to enter your passcode again before it will actually turn
it off.

I just did it and rebooted and it stay off.

Now, I recreated it because I want the protection of a passcode.

Once you have jump through those lovely hoops, you will be done with the
passtcode.

Re: IoS 14.5 won't let me get past the code pages

2021-04-27 Thread Richard Turner
Once you have jump through those lovely hoops, you will be done with the
passtcode.

Hi, I updated the se2020 to 14.5 and can’t get past the pass code screen. It
