Jed, I haven't been on the Linked In site in a couple months and hadn't seen much progress at that time, but my acquaintance only took the job late last fall. I use Linked-in, but not very much. It’s possible to add people to your network. actually I got an invite from somebody I knew. we were both access Technology trainers, so that was a good starting point. Then some of my friends joined. You can fiddle around on the website, but it’s kind of messy. You can answer questions about your contacts, mostly about whether they are proficient at certain skills, etc., which is called “endorsing”. I’d say it’s worth a try from a professional standpoint, but otherwise it could be skipped. Email notifications are pretty useful, since the links in the emails bring you to specific pages, where you can add contacts, endorse people, etc. It’s good to know about the app. I don’t guess I’ll be trying it. The aspect of linkedIn that i find most beneficial are the groups, that are kind of like forums. I have joined several groups related to the work I do, and have found the discussions to be informative.
