list has been remarkable.  Even when it is necessary to reign us in, you do

  I would also add that your co-moderater Raul also does an excellent job at
herding cats here as well.

   Please continue to remind us of civility from time to time.  My own
nature tends  toward the acid and sharp even when I think I am being funny.
It is good to stop and remember that my words should be served up with the
clear understanding that I may have to eat them someday.

when I started this list just before the first accessible iPHone came out,
my original plan was to have a non-moderated list. I feel that people are
adults and can treat each other with the respect and dignity they deserve.

also, as a quick note on four letter words and colorful language. Since
there are members here from all over the world and from diverse religious
and moral backgrounds, words like the B word above and all of the other
colorful types of vocabulary are not welcome here.

 

Personally they don't bother me a bit (within reason) but I am asking us to
simply again, be aware of others here. If you need more clarification just
ask and I'll be happy to detail this.

 

Before I go on, let me just stop and also congratulate you all for actually
doing a wonderful job to maintain a great amount of peace and civility. Many
lists might have degenerated in to flame wars over what we all have been
discussing and passing back and forth here over the last few weeks. So
please feel free to give yourselves a hand if you wish! :) I'm serious. With
a list this size, it's no small feat to manage intense discussions such as
what we are lucky enough to have here.

 

the fact that we can keep these threads going in a reasonably civil way is
seriously cool and mature of all of us. So trust me when I say I thank you

I joined this list to share with others.  I found for the most part the people 
to be helpful and friendly.  That however was overshadowed by the self 
appointed list cops and know it alls. On the other hand, the list owner is such 
a likable person who really gives it her all to make this a fun experience and 
for the most part very helpful.  If it weren't for her great attitude and 
smiling personality I probably wouldn't have stuck around this long.

Kara,
its been pretty sedate around here compared to a few other lists of late.

I have learned 1 thing: 2 subjects best to avoid, politics and religion. Both 
of these are hot potato topics almost guaranteed to enflame tempers and 
polarize opinions.

Mostly, I do a lot of reading and some technical discussion (ham radio, Linux, 
OS X, blind bicycling and some others). On that last one, I am one of a few 
breed of totally blind bicyclists who can ride solo (at least out in the 
countryside). I wouldn't recommend doing so in town (all those crazy drivers 
and their multi ton bullets).

Anyway, thats basically it from me.

To add one comment to Cara's post, ignoring bothersome messages can be helpful. 
 Given the high volume on this list, I've taken to not reading messages from 
people who I feel are inclined to complain a good deal of the time.  No labels 
here, just a fact, no what I mean?
