I received a tweet tonight which was sent earlier today stating the Voice Dream 
Reader has a new update coming out tomorrow that will include the Voice Dream 
Scanner capabilities in Reader. The price will increase from $14.99 to $19.99 
USD. Reader is currently on sale for $9.99 which for those who don't have it is 
a great price especially considering that scanning will be included in it after 
the update. I don't know when the $9.99 sale price expires but I just checked 
the App Store and that price was still available. If you're interested in 
getting this app, I'd recommend you do it now.

Mike, and others,
If you don’t have Reader, and you like to read, get reader and at least in the 
United States, join bookshare.
For $50 per year, you get all the books you can read and then some.
They often have books available the day they land in the bookstores.

It is my primary book reading tool, though also BARD from the National Library 
Service for the Blind when I want human read audio and they are getting 
commercial audio books much faster into their collection, which means buying 
fewer audio books from Libro.fm or Audible.

But for any electronic documents in most all formats, Voice Dream Reader is the 
best!

Also Mike,
Voice OCR is made by a young man in Canada who released it to the app store 
when he was about 15 or 16.  Left it lie there until he finished college, did a 
rewrite, and seems to have again left it alone.
It is good for some things, but the Voice dream products, Reader and Scanner 
and for me Writer, are great products that everyone should have.
Writer is for just that, writing.  It does TXT files and you can use markup 
language to then export the txt file to RTF or HTML for a formatted document.

the Voice Dream Reader has a new update coming out tomorrow that
will include the Voice Dream Scanner capabilities in Reader. The
price will increase from $14.99 to $19.99 USD. Reader is currently
on sale for $9.99 which for those who don't have it is a great
price especially considering that scanning will be included in it
after the update. I don't know when the $9.99 sale price expires
but I just checked the App Store and that price was still
available. If you're interested in getting this app, I'd recommend
you do it now.

Thanks Alan, I should check twitter more often. There was a follow-up tweat 
that said:

Scanner is still a useful standalone app, for scanning something quickly and 
discard. And for creating accessible PDFs from paper documents or images for 
distribution. Scanning in Voice Dream Reader is meant to create documents 
primarily for use in the Reader app.
