RE: any new app?

2015-11-27 Thread Richard Turner
Hi Rich,
I got a followup message from the developer of Light Detector. I believe light
detector costs $1.99, but his first point below might be a good option for you
until they can see if vibrations are possible later. To get the textual label
to show up you just tap on the screen while the app is running.
Here is his message:
Dear Richard,

let me add two pieces of information to my last email.

1) Light Detector has a textual label reporting the percentage of light (i.e.,
0% total dark, 100% total light). This label should be accessible to braille
displays.

2) Currently it is not easy to design personalized vibration patterns on iOS
devices. This is a technical limitation we can hardly overcome. However, I
think that Apple will soon fix this, because they have recently improved the
hardware for vibration in iPhone 6S and it would be stupid to "hide" this nice
hardware to the developers.

RE: any new app?

2015-11-26 Thread Richard Turner
Seeing Assistant Light and Light Detector both emit a sound, but neither gives
a vibration which is what Rich was asking about.

I wrote the folks at Seeing Assistant to ask if adding an option for a
vibration was possible. We'll see what they say.

I didn't find a contact for the light detector as yet.
I tried putting the iPhone on mute, but still no vibration.

Richard

I did grab one a while back called Seeign Assistant Light that gave off a sound
when light was detected. The stronger the light, the higher the pitch. I may be
wrong on the exact name, but that was what it was called more or less. I'm sure
if you ssearch for it, you'll find it in the app store. I ended up deleting it
