Re: iPad Mini - does it have SIRI?
I think for my money, I'll probably end up getting the 5th generation ipod touch. It costs $300.00 for the 32gb vs the ipad mini $429.00. They both seem to have the same spects. -Original Message- From: Sieghard Weitzel Sent: Wednesday, October 24, 2012 9:49 AM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: iPad Mini - does it have SIRI? Hi Rob, Given the fact that Apple has updated the iPad twice within 7 months this year and probably ticked off some people who bought the new iPad in March only to find now that they could have had one with better LTE support, a much faster processor and better WiFi, I wouldn't put it past Apple to update the iPad Mini in March especially since now they don't have anything that will be updated until the summer at the earliest and probably next September or October. All Macs have had updates in the last few months, the iPod Touch Fifth Gen just came out, the iPhone 5 also and the iPad Fourth Gen was just announced 7 months after they released the new iPad (third Gen). Also, the iPad Mini has no retina display whereas everything else has one from the iPod Touch to the iPhone, the full-size iPad and both the MacBook Pro 13 and 15 inch. To me that suggests they kept that for the next update and please proof me wrong, but I don't recall a word during the Keynote about the iPad Mini having SIRI. In fact, they compared it a lot to the iPad 2, same screen resolution, same processor and all that and the iPad 2 does not have and did not get SIRI even with iOS 6. I also was interested in buying an iPad Mini, but it would be a total dealbreaker for me if it doesn't have SIRI. I haven't looked up the specs yet online so I'm sure all of us potential iPad Mini buyers would like to know. As I said, don't jump the gun and preorder without finding out for sure unless of course you couldn't care less about SIRI. I am going to be in Vancouver in about 4 weeks so by that time I am sure they will have iPad Minis in the Apple Stores and I look forward to playing around with one, but I think Apple won't get any of my hard-earned Dollars this year. Re: iPad Mini - does it have SIRI?
For some, a 64GB touch is a perfect solution. I would even consider it accept that I want LTE connectivity. I think your second point of nt adding siri to the iPad being a marketing thing is most likely correct. The processor in theiPad 2 is the same in the iPhone 4S and the same in the iPad mini. The iPad mini is well positioned at those in the education field, and those wanting an iPad and don't necissarily care about a retna display. There are those folks out there because the iPad 2 has continued to sell very well. - Original Message - From: "Cristobal" To: Sent: Wednesday, October 24, 2012 12:57 PM Subject: RE: iPad Mini - does it have SIRI? Re: iPad Mini - does it have SIRI?
Sieghard, I agree that apple will probably release an iPad mini next spring with retna. This would allow them to continue the march toward retna everything and have the added result of pushing the iPad mini without retna in to a cheaper price point and get rid of the iPad 2 from the lineup. It appears that siri is on the mini which makes since as the processor in the mini is the same one in the iPhone 4S. The next big thing we may see from apple, assuming there is no TV, I think could be Mac OS X running on a tablet. I think it would be interesting anyway, though if that does happen, it would most likely be announced at WWDC next summer. - Original Message - From: "Cristobal" To: Sent: Wednesday, October 24, 2012 12:57 PM Subject: RE: iPad Mini - does it have SIRI? RE: iPad Mini - does it have SIRI?
Sieghard, I wanted the same question answered regarding Siri so I called apple. The sales rep had to put me on hold because he wasn't sure. After checking his sources, he said that the Mini was "Siri compatible". Siri compatible sounded kind of strange to me so I combed through the Apple web site and found that Siri is definitely mentioned as being one of the built-in apps on the iPad Mini. Here's the link so you can read it for yourself. Not having Siri would be a deal breaker for me as well. http://www.apple.com/ipad-mini/built-in-apps/ Best, Rick -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Sieghard Weitzel Sent: Wednesday, October 24, 2012 12:50 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: iPad Mini - does it have SIRI? RE: iPad Mini - does it have SIRI?
Hi Cristobal, I will make a decision after I had a chance to use an iPad Mini for half an hour or so at an Apple Store. I also like the idea of an iPod Touch Fifth Gen 64 Gig which would be $399. For an extra $130 so for $529 you can get a WiFi only iPad Mini 64 Gig. Regards, Sieghard -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the "VIPhone" Google Group. RE: iPad Mini - does it have SIRI?
Hello again Listers, OK, so I just googled "Does the iPad Mini have SIRI" since I really didn't remember this being mentioned during the Keynote and I would have expected them to emphasize this. In any case, it does appear that the iPad Mini will have SIRI. However, I still stick to what I said earlier which is that I wouldn't be surprised if there was an updated iPad Mini second Gen within 6 months with a retina screen and the a6X processor. I really can't see Apple not having something they can release in the spring unless of course they are coming out with the long rumoured Apple TV and by that I mean an actual large-screen TV not the little box which currently is called Apple TV.
