I recommend the Logitech K380 or K480 as the keys are about the same size as on
a standard computer keyboard.
Often local stores like Target, Best Buy, carry them, or of course Amazon.

There are keyboard commands for navigating an iOS device. I’d recommend setting
the Voiceover modifier to Capslock, and maybe teaching him Quick navigation
with the arrow keys first, for less finger use. You can set things in Settings

If he is using VoiceOver, none of the physical switches work when VoiceOver is
on.
There are Bluetooth keyboard commands to do everything.
I have both a document with keyboard commands and a list of what I think are
all of the voice control commands on my web site: www.turner42.com

This is a great place to be asking your questions.

What about enabling Voice Control in Accessibility Settings? When you first
enable the feature, it takes a couple of minutes to download the extra software
but after that you can ask Siri to turn the feature on as required - and there
is a voice control command to turn off voice control. Voice control commands
can be used to replace all physical tapping and swiping and works well with or
without VoiceOver. It is important either to use a headset or EarPods or else
be careful to say “Command Mode”, otherwise text edit fields get filled up with
every word you or VoiceOver say!

Re: ipad adjustments

2020-06-17 Thread Michael Feir
My first thought would be to look in the Touch setings. You'll find that
button in the accessibility settings and it leads to a large group of
options which sound to me like what you want. You can change how gestures
work and do other things related to touch screen difficulties. I don't know
where you get the special control switches but imagine they'd be on Amazon
among other places. The Apple store would certainly have at least one or
two types in their accessories but they tend to sell things more
expensively than elsewhere. Hope that helps a bit.
