RE: soft reset

2021-09-03 Thread Richard Turner
It does not require watching the screen.
VoiceOver speaks the Power off, wait a few seconds after that and release the
buttons.
Then wait for VoiceOver to speak the home screen or the need to enter the
passcode.

I think it does about the same thing as rebooting your computer. It gives the
operating system a fresh start without damaging any data.

If you have a home button, press and hold both the home button and the power
button for about 6 or 8 seconds and the Apple should start to appear, release
and within a minute or so, you will be back at the home screen and need to
enter your passcode if you have one.
If a phone with no home button, tap the volume up then volume down then hold
the power side switch for at least 10 seconds. The power off screen will
appear but keep holding the side switch until it goes away and then release it.
Again, in a minute or so, you will be back at the home screen...

Yes,Sieghard, you are right, but if something is acting strangely, the "hard
reset" usually clears it up while just shutting off and turning on the phone
doesn't.

No data is lost in either method.

The iPhone has no "reboot" or "restart" function as it is now called in
Windows. You can either turn it off completely and back on which essentially is
the same thing or you can do the hard reset with the buttons.

RE: soft reset

2021-09-03 Thread Richard Turner

HTH,

Richard

What exactly does it accomplish and how do I do it without
erasing all my data?
