Re: tvOs 9.2 for the Apple TV 4 is out, and blue tooth keyboard support works.

2016-03-22 Thread Jonathan Mosen
There is. This is covered in the latest edition of my Apple TV book available
from http://Mosen.org/atv4.
I also demonstrate it in a podcast for AppleVis. But essentially, Apple TV
behaves differently in username and password fields, and you can dictate
character by character.

RE: tvOs 9.2 for the Apple TV 4 is out, and blue tooth keyboard support works.

2016-03-22 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Keith,

I am just repeating what Tim Cook said so maybe there is some special behavior
if SIRI is in a password field on the Apple TV.

How does one dictate a username, for example. When I’ve tried to do this on my
iPhone in Messages, I get gobbledeeGook, either with straight spelling or by
stating lower case g, lower case, e, etc.

Yes, and during the keynote Tim Cook also said that SIRI/dictation on the new
Apple TV now is also available in any edit field including user names and
passwords. I guess they assume that since you will always be at home when you
use your Apple TV it is OK to allow dictation for passwords and if others are
around you just don’t use it, but if you are by yourself then it’s potentially
a neat feature.

Sieghard

Hi.

Subject says it all. I saw that the iPhone had an update, as well as iTunes,
so I decided to check if the Apple TV 4 had an update. It did. I then checked
in Settings, remotes and devices. In there is an option for Blue Tooth. I
selected that option, and, what do you know? Keyboard is an option. I then
selected that option, and started my blue tooth keyboard in pairing mode. The
Apple TV reads the number a bit weird, but I figured it out, and I got the
keyboard paired with my Apple TV the first time! I haven’t done much with it
yet, but from what I can tell it works similar to the 3 gen Apple TV.

Just letting folks know.

Have a blessed day, and don’t work too hard.
