Keeping the home button down does not stop siri from interrupting my dictation-
although some have suggested this so it must work for them ;)

Mike,

One thing you can do is hold the home button the entire time that you wish Siri
to listen to you, this should eliminate the problems you have with pausing. I
do agree that using dictation seems easier because you can pause and resume
dictation using the 2 finger double tap.

I hope this is of some help.

Is there a verbal command to change the line during dictation? Or the only

That method of holding down the home button and saying send a message to John
followed by what you want to say works quite well. That is my standard method
of sending text messages, and as long as there are no gross dictation errors,
it works great and you can send a full paragraph or so without Siri the siding
you had enough.

Mike,

You will have to manually type the person’s name if in your contacts, or the
phone number/email address in to the “to” box. The nice thing is, if they
are in your contacts, you should only have to type part of the name and you
will find a list of suggestions below the “to” box. Double tap the
appropriate suggestion and then find the message field and double tap it. At
this point you can dictate all you wish. I’ve gotten in the habit of not
deleting my text messages so I can just find a prior conversation and can
easily message someone.
I hope this helps.

Hi all.

Is there a verbal command to change the line during dictation? Or the only
option is to pause and then change the line and then resume dictation?

Hi Paul,

Okay, I've never used the Dictate feature, but just tried playing around
with it a little bit. How do you insert to whom you want the text message
or email sent to, before dictating your message into the edit / message
field?

Mike,

One thing you can do is hold the home button the entire time that you wish
Siri to listen to you, this should eliminate the problems you have with
pausing. I do agree that using dictation seems easier because you can pause
and resume dictation using the 2 finger double tap.
I hope this is of some help.

You could try standing on your head and singing, grin, but I think you will
find that there is nothing you can do to get Siri to wait.
It is very impatient in my humble opinion.
So, one has to have their thoughts together before starting. That is why I
often write it out using MBraile and pasting it in.

Hi,
I don't know if this is correct, but it seems as though I do better when I
dictate a message and need more time rather than using Siri. I do use her quite
a bit for dictating messages but I feel like I have a little more time using
the dictation feature.
Take care.
