Unfortunately, I just get a message saying that my request couldn't be acted on, or something like that. I think it simply isn't available here yet, though it says on their web site that it should have been in the U.S. late last year. Hi, HDMI is audio and video so the iPlayer sounds and vo will both come through the TV. I've done it once or twice and it seems to work well enough, although I can't comment on the picture.
