I recently invested in the word of promise bible app. I uses the New
King James bible and has a 90-hour dramatized audio version as well as
the complete text. You can use it very easily with Voiceover. You can
even double-tap on words and have the audio performance jump right
there. If you hear a section performed by the cast, you can then stop
and read through that same section of text. It's a remarkable
approach. You can choose not to purchase the drama and still use the
New King James version and a couple of others available from the store
within the app. The audio drama comes in either a basic 1.2 gb version
or a high-quality 4-gb version. Either way, the length of audio
material is 90 hours for the whole bible.

Is anyone using that you Bible right now? For some reason, it always doesn't 
work right with voiceover. Every since the last update, the screen changes but 
voiceover still reads the same thing as the previous screen. I've wrote to the 
developer, and they said that they know about this issue and it will be fixed 
soon.

I love that app also.  Seemed to be a bit more snappy and responsive more than 
the bible app.  JMO
Frustrated with your Mac, I-device, or AppleTV?  New user and want quick

I can't remember, and I think one can download a braille copy to read on 
a braille display if one chooses.
It's an inspirational magazine, about how faith has had an impact on 
people's lives.

YouVersion has been mentioned.  I just read a great article in the August
Guideposts about how that app came to be developed.

The app from bible gateway doesn't have these issues, and is 98 percent 
accessible.  The only flaw I see is sometimes the audio is not always 
available.  But this is the case with the life church app also.

I left bible app a while back.  To me the bible gait way app gives more 
features and choices for translations.  I looked the other day, and bible app 
finally caught up with bible gateway, but I am satisfied with what bg does so I 
will stick with it.

All, we are talking about 2 apps here apparently, the Bible.com app and the 
youversion/Lifechurch app. Since I have the second one and not the first, 
are we saying that one or both of them are no longer accessible? I see the 
youversion update and did not install it as of now.

Hi, Paul. I'm pretty sure we're all talking about the YouVersion app, which, 
though never fully accessible, has been fairly usable until the recent update.

Does anyone have contact information for the developer? I think several of us 
contacting this person might show the importance of making the app voiceover 
friendly. I, for one, would be glad to send a nice email asking them to do this.

blog and comment. Make sure everyone on Facebook. I bet they won't make the

It looks like it is very hard to read the Bible. But here is my workaround. 
When the app opens with the verses of the day  listed, instead of picking share 
pick the read button this will bring you to a screen where there is a button to 
read  the entire chapter. Or, the regular button is at the top to change the 
book, chapter, version and so on.  These are extra steps, but there are 
workarounds.

This work around will work to read the bible. However if you are doing a
daily reading plan there is no way to get to that. I am just thankful I was
able to sync an older release of the app back to my phone.

It looks like it is very hard to read the Bible. But here is my workaround.
When the app opens with the verses of the day  listed, instead of picking
share pick the read button this will bring you to a screen where there is a
button to read  the entire chapter. Or, the regular button is at the top to
change the book, chapter, version and so on.  These are extra steps, but
there are workarounds.

Hopefully if they listen to our complaints we will get a fully accessible
update. That is what happened with the slacker radio app. For years the
accessibility was just ok then they actually put out  an update  built to
address the issues. I am hopeful we get the issues resolved as this bible
app is one of the best I have found,. Most of the bible apps are completely
not accessible except for bible gateway, and that one frankly does not do
what I want it to do.

No it is specific to the vertion of the app we have installed. The latest
update witch is 5.0 is completely broken in terms of accessibility, while
the previous release is somewhat accessible.

That is exactly how I used to do searches in this app.  However, it
doesn't seem to work anymore.  When I press the reference button to
initiate the search, nothing seems to happen.

Has anyone noticed this?  Perhaps I should reinstall the app?

corner  and there's asearch field that  says refrence or keyword that is 
probly the search feature you want.  I hope this helps.

Hello,
This is def a 5 issue. Has anyone heard anything? They released an update
last week and am going to try it today on my way to work.

BTW: Parts of the Bible programme don't work quite so well for me using
theIPad Mini and I certainly can't use the Plans on there.

This doesn't work with the 5 if you want to do notes, devotionals, and so
on. For just reading the bible it is great.

aActually, it works a bit better with notes and such. You have to select verses 
in order to see the Notes option. And when thee app opens, you can look for the 
book, chapter and verse you want cuz there's a references button.  and instead 
of searching for stuff through the menu only, now they've placed a search 
function at the bottom of the page. I have an iphone 5 and use this app almost 
daily. The only thing I believe they need to work on is us being able to use 
the options under the menu.

I wrote them a couple of months ago and got a reply. They are aware of
our VO issues and are working on them. The update addresses a couple
of issues and makes the app a bit more usable. The guy I heard from
his name is Dwayne.

They have added a search function on almost every page so that we
don't have to access the menu. And it is now a bit easier to select
verses for notes or sharing now. The menu has not been fixed yet
though.

I'm using for S and can access my notes perfectly well.

 double tap the Menu button, then slide your finger (slowly at first) and find 
the following buttons as you work down the left-hand side: They are Cancel, 
Today, Bible, Plans, Videos, Bookmarks and finally Notes. Double tap the button 
then start flicking right for other options, such as Create new, Refresh, 
Notes, All, Public, Private.

BTW: Parts of the Bible programme don't work quite so well for me using theIPad 
Mini and I certainly can't use the Plans on there.

Yes, it's been fine for a few weeks, since just a couple of days after we 
last reported it.  I've just upgraded again but haven't stop to read yet.


I'd like to see a facility which was on the Online Bible some years back 
where you could put together a verses list for a topic etc.  May suggest it.

I can't seem to be able to read the plans. All it says is devotional content. 
Any ideas?
