RE: EnVision Smart Glasses Vs. OrCam

2021-06-02 Thread zhi.huang
Hi all:

In the US, the 2 premiere dealers for the Envision glasses are Access Ingenuity
and Florida Reading. In short, Access Ingenuity handles west of the
Mississippi, while Florida Reading handles the Eastern parts.

Both companies provided presentations on the Envision Glasses the last few
months.

Here’s a link to the audio presentation from Access Ingenuity:

Here’s the same presentation with video:

I will sum up what I know about the Envision Glasses vs the OrCam. I should
mention that I do work for Access Ingenuity, but will be as down the middle as
possible.

Options: Envision Glasses only have one set of Google glasses; however there
are 2 frames. One with a frame but does not let you include lends and one
allowing you to include lends for sunglasses, prescription, and nonprescription.

OrCam has several devices. They have ones for just reading text, another for
text and bar codes, Etc.

Price: Envision Glasses are $3500, if you get the Smith Optics frame, to allow
you to add lends, it’s an additional $500

OrCam’s most expensive product, the direct competitor to the Envision Glasses
is $4500.

Requirements: Envision Glasses require you to use the Envision AI app on a
smart device.

OrCam is stand alone

Scanning text: both do it and do it pretty well.

Envision Glasses has an online and offline mode. Offline is faster, but online
increases accuracy. It also lets you send scans to the Envision AI app
allowing you to then share the file via txt or pdf to your other devices or
others. As for file size, this is text so it does not take up a lot of room
and you can pretty much store as much as your smart device allows.

OrCam has more limited storage since it’s on the actual device.

Scanning barcodes: Envision Glasses currently do not do this with the Glasses,
but the Envision app does have this feature through your smart device.

OrCam does have this feature

Calling someone through your glasses to provide them video in the point of view
of the glasses: the Envision Glasses can do this, but you do need the person
to set this up with the Envision Ally app first. This is only through your
glasses and not with the Envision AI app.

For those who say, I can call with my smart phone. Yes, you can, but this puts
things in the point of view of the actual glasses. Its not a big deal for
everyone, but convenient and helpful for someone who may not have the option of
holding their phone since you actually ware the glasses. Also helpful for
someone who is not good at aiming their phone camera. In the case of the
glasses, if the person says its in front of you, it is assuming you are wearing
the glasses, then it would be in front of you.

OrCam does not have this feature.

Battery life: Envision Glasses is about 5-6 hours with active use.

Most OrCam models have 1.5-2 hours with active use, while OrCam Read has 4
hours of active use.

You can add a charger from Amazon to extend the battery life here:

Those are the basics. Please feel free to check out the links and let me know
if you have any additional questions.

I'm interested in learning about these glasses too. I do know that Access
Ingenuity sells them but I guess you can go to letsenvision.com to find other
dealers there should be a link labeled distributors.

Also, any information about EnVision dealers in the US would be helpful.
