Re: Please don't consider contacting Youtube to report the issues with the lates version 13.08 of their iOS app with VoiceOver

2018-03-11 Thread Wayne Merritt
Maria, I have noticed that there are more blank spaces between videos.
I guess this goes back to the "new design" of YouTube. Also, I was
having issues with the collapse button on an iPhone 7 Plus with latest
version of app, but I deleted and reinstalled it and all appears to be
working now. Crossing fingers, grin.

Thanks for the tip about the Play and Close buttons at the bottom, I
 hadn't
noticed those yet. Collapsing the video for me at least seems pretty
 obvious
because even though it continues playing Voiceover also talks and if
 you
touch the screen you notice you are back on the home screen.

 Hi.

I hope this isn't too long and that it doesn't confuse the issue
 further.

I'm using an iPhone SE with the last released version of iOS 10 with
 YouTube
 13.08 released on March 6th, I believe.

I want to clarify how YouTube works for me now, because it's completely
different as far as video playback is concerned. I wouldn't call it a
 bug,
it's a redesign of the app, I suppose.

In earlier versions double tapping the collapse video actually stopped
 the
video and closed it so you would be back on the home screen, or which
 ever
tab you were in when you started playing the video.

This has changed with the last few updates. Now you can double tap the
collapse video and the video will continue to play. What happens now
 is
that you are returned to the home screen or which ever tab you were in
 when
the video was launched. If you do not have usable vision, it appears as
 if
the collapse button hasn't worked because audio is still playing.

This change threw me off, too, because I cannot see the video, and I
 didn't
realize what was happening. Also, I still have intermittent issues with
 a
two-fingered double tap not resuming playing as it should.

Now to close or reliably resume playback of a video, you need to move to
 the
tabs on the bottom of the screen and swipe left past home. Here there
 is a
close button, a play/pause button, and the title of the currently
 playing
video. Double tapping the close will close the video. double tapping
 the
video title will take you back to the video's main page with the
 regular
 next, actions, description, etc.

Now that I've gotten used to the design it's no big deal, but it can
 still
 be irritating.

If what I've described above isn't the issue some of you are having
 than
I apologize. So far YouTube is working fine for me with the exception
of the change in behavior of the collapse button.

 HTH,

 Lisa

Hello Lisa,
In my case, I knew of this brand new change but the collapse video button did
not work for me and I also was not able to find a close button anywhere on the
screen. Now that I have reinstalled the app, double tapping on the collapse
button returns me back to the home or search back button screen and pauses
audio. This is in version 13.08 of the YouTube app.
Again, I do apologize but I and other colleagues were really having this issue

I just checked, and the collapse video button is still there on my
IPhone 6, running 11.2.6. It still is at the top left corner of my
screen. I do not know the number of my You Tube version, but there
is no update for it in my app store, so I guess it is the latest

Thanks for the tip about the Play and Close buttons at the bottom, I hadn't
noticed those yet. Collapsing the video for me at least seems pretty obvious
because even though it continues playing Voiceover also talks and if you touch
the screen you notice you are back on the home screen.

Hi.

I hope this isn't too long and that it doesn't confuse the issue further.

I'm using an iPhone SE with the last released version of iOS 10 with YouTube
13.08 released on March 6th, I believe.

I want to clarify how YouTube works for me now, because it's completely
different as far as video playback is concerned.  I wouldn't call it a
bug, it's a redesign of the app, I suppose.

In earlier versions double tapping the collapse video actually stopped
the video and closed it so you would be back on the home screen, or
which ever tab you were in when you started playing the video.

This has changed with the last few updates.  Now you can double tap the
collapse video and the video will continue to play.  What happens now is
that you are returned to the home screen or which ever tab you were in
when the video was launched.  If you do not have usable vision, it
appears as if the collapse button hasn't worked because audio is still
playing.

This change threw me off, too, because I cannot see the video, and I
didn't realize what was happening.  Also, I still have intermittent
issues with a two-fingered double tap not resuming playing as it should.

Now to close or reliably resume playback of a video, you need to move to
the tabs on the bottom of the screen and swipe left past home.  Here
there is a close button, a play/pause button, and the title of the
currently playing video.  Double tapping the close will close the
video.  double tapping the video title will take you back to the video's
main page with the regular next, actions, description, etc.

Now that I've gotten used to the design it's no big deal, but it can
still be irritating.

If what I've described above isn't the issue some of you are having than
I apologize.  So far YouTube is working fine for me with the exception
of the change in behavior of the collapse button.

HTH,

Lisa

Davy, I agree saying you should not contact Youtube/Google is not a useful
suggestion. May I remind you how often you posted on here after a Facebook
update that something wasn't working and when I checked it it was working for
me. People need to try all options and the last one if a restart of the phone
doesn't help is to delete the app (Youtube in this case) and redownload it.

That is just the new policy of youtube it has nothing to do with voiceover so I
would suggest no moaning and complaining towards youtube.

The collapse video button works properly on my iPhone 6S Plus so I think
anybody who has an issue as you describe should attempt to first delete Youtube
completely and then reinstall, sign in again and check to see if that made a
difference.

I am having an identical problem. I see the collapse video button, but pressing
it does nothing.

I don't know about others here, but I am actually finding that many things are
growing less accessible over time rather than more.

2018-03-10 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I don't think Donna said you can't complain or provide feedback. She simply
stated that many people seem to have no problems and suggested to delete and
reinstall which is a perfectly reasonable recommendation and the last step in
trouble shooting an issue. I have read dozens of times on here how doing this
fixed the issue somebody had prior to doing this.

Lelia

The issues you all have you name them as issues but simply they are not. It is
just another way the app works and that's youtube's policy whether you like it
or not.

Well, I also am having issues and I have the latest update with an iPhone 7.
To say there are no issues is not right, to say there are no issues with your
phone is fine. But you can’t just tell others not to complain or give feedback
if they’re having issues.

Hello Lisa,
In my case, I knew of this brand new change but the collapse video
button did not work for me and I also was not able to find a close
button anywhere on the screen. Now that I have reinstalled the app,
double tapping on the collapse button returns me back to the home or
search back button screen and pauses audio. This is in version 13.08
of the YouTube app.
Again, I do apologize but I and other colleagues were really having this issue

Re: Please don't consider contacting Youtube to report the issues with the lates version 13.08 of their iOS app with VoiceOver

2018-03-10 Thread Lisa Belville

Hi.

I hope this isn't too long and that it doesn't confuse the issue further.

I'm using an iPhone SE with the last released version of iOS 10 with
YouTube 13.08 released on March 6th, I believe.

HTH,

Lisa

Hi

I am using the latest update to the YouTube app. I am not having any problems
with accessibility or closing videos. I am using an iPhone 7.

Dona

I just checked, and the collapse video button is still there on my IPhone 6,
running 11.2.6. It still is at the top left corner of my screen. I do not know
the number of my You Tube version, but there is no update for it in my app
store, so I guess it is the latest one. I do not know the reason for the
discrepancy in our experiences.

Okay.
Since you all are in so tight with the folks at google, and you've figured out
the app, please enlighten the rest of us as to the work around you use.
Just because things work a bit different does not mean it is policy, or not
worth noting.

The issues you all have you name them as issues but simply they are not. It
is just another way the app works and that's youtube's policy whether you

Well, I also am having issues and I have the latest update with an iPhone 7.
To say there are no issues is not right, to say there are no issues with
your phone is fine. But you can’t just tell others not to complain or give
feedback if they’re having issues.

problems with accessibility or closing videos. I am using an iPhone 7.

Dona

I just checked, and the collapse video button is still there on my
IPhone 6, running 11.2.6. It still is at the top left corner of my
screen. I do not know the number of my You Tube version, but there is
no update for it in my app store, so I guess it is the latest one. I do
not know the reason for the discrepancy in our experiences.

button to exit out of the recommended videos. I would like to suggest
that if others are experiencing the same issue that they consider
contacting YouTube. Feedback can be reported through the app by double
tapping on the send feedback button or probably reported in a feedback
form found online. I have already contacted YouTube about this issue
and I am hoping that it will be resolved soon.

I am having an identical problem. I see the collapse video button, but pressing
it does nothing.

I don't know about others here, but I am actually finding that many things are
growing less accessible over time rather than more.

Well, I also am having issues and I have the latest update with an iPhone 7. To
say there are no issues is not right, to say there are no issues with your
phone is fine. But you can’t just tell others not to complain or give feedback
if they’re having issues.

Don't contact google to resolve issues, or take away the collapse button?

Hello,
I and some others who I know have been experiencing issues with the
latest version of the YouTube app with VoiceOver for iOS. We have
noticed that while playing a video the collapse video button does not
work when double tapping on it and we also are unable to find a close
button to exit out of the recommended videos.

Good for you.
I'm glad you have no issues.
However, I do have the issue of the collapse video button not working on my 8
plus.
Since you know for a fact that there isn't an issue with youtube, then tell us
what's wrong with our phones.

Re: Please don't consider contacting Youtube to report the issues with the lates version 13.08 of their iOS app with VoiceOver

2018-03-10 Thread Davy Cuppens

There are no issues so don't contact youtube
Because elsewhere when there would be issues in the future our community
will nolonger be credible.

Hi

I am using the latest update to the YouTube app. I am not having any
problems with accessibility or closing videos. I am using an iPhone 7.

Dona

I just checked, and the collapse video button is still there on my IPhone
6, running 11.2.6. It still is at the top left corner of my screen. I do
not know the number of my You Tube version, but there is no update for it
in my app store, so I guess it is the latest one. I do not know the reason
for the discrepancy in our experiences.

Hello,
I and some others who I know have been experiencing issues with the
latest version of the YouTube app with VoiceOver for iOS. We have
noticed that while playing a video the collapse video button does not
work when double tapping on it and we also are unable to find a close
button to exit out of the recommended videos.
