My understanding is the same. MBraille and similar apps type text, but they save it internally; the actual screen holds only the keyboard. Braille Screen Input in iOS itself will work just fine, I imagine, because text is actually entered in real time. Braille Screen Input was Re: Speak screen does not work in mbraille
Correct, however with contracted Braille input the text is held in some kind of buffer until you press space or newline. This is because the translator can't figure out otherwise if for example you mean b or but. There is a gesture to translate the word immediately though: two finger flick down.
