Just to add to this…

Once you guys use to this method, you might find the continuous noise while 
removing apps gets annoying.  Lol, I flip my mute switch on while removing.  
Especially, if we are talking about several apps at once.

Hi,

After you press the home button twice, you then double tap and hold the app.  
You should hear editing apps.  At that point, any app you double tap will be 
closed.  You can double tap on dismiss app switcher when you are finished.
