Suggested apps has nothing to do with updates. I personally have turned this
off since I couldn’t care less about getting suggestions about apps, it’s your
choice, but as long as you have updates turned off under the automatic
downloads heading you are going to be notified of app updates and can download
them manually.

Under the iTunes and app store heading
I have my updates turned off and under the suggested apps heading should I have
the app store turned on or off. I just want to make sure that I wil hear the
number of updates in the app store when I check for updates. Does this make
sense? I just also want to make sureI'm following you hear which Ithink Iam.
