I'm sorry that I don't have any suggestions on why this happens or how to fix 
it. 
I can say though that it does happen to me often. I have to delete my account 
and set it up over again in order to get my mail. It's definitely annoying

I don't have this problem. I wonder if it's related to a network
connectivity issue. Maybe you should try resetting your network
settings. I'm assuming this is over wifi.
