It's simply a list of checkboxes that you tab through and can check or
uncheck. Then select the apply button, then the close button.

RE: iCloud Control Panel for Windows, was Re: Setting up icloud mail on your PC:

2012-12-09 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Chris,

I assume you are not a Windows user, but wherever you get your information
it is quite wrong. Just like Grant I can confirm that the iCloud Control
Panel for Windows is very accessible with Jaws. You can tab around and Jaws
reads everything, I can go into options and change stuff like the location
of my Photostream Folder, I can enable or disable bookmark/favourite syncing
etc.

The iCloud website is a different story, but from what I heard on the list
it appears almost that it's more accessible with Windows and Internet
Explorer and Jaws than it is on a Mac with Safari and Voiceover. Maybe
somebody can correct me, but it is possible to do some stuff like make you
riPhone send out a signal if you forget where you put it, I could wipe it
etc. I don't use the iCloud website to manage Reminders because while it can
be done it's slow and you have to do a lot of Jaws cursor work and why
should I use it if I have my iPhone right there and I can add, change or
delete reminders with ease and since I use Outlook.com for my personal mail,
contacts and calendar and full Exchange for my business contacs, email and
calendar I have no reason to use iCloud for that.

Regards,
Sieghard

There are real advantages in using iCloud mail, one of which is that mail
will push rather than be retrieved on a schedule. So it's pretty much as
instant as an iMessage.

In terms of credentials for a PC, iCloud will let you connect with Imap,
Pop3 isn't supported. Here's the article from

iCloud: Mail server information
Summary
This article provides settings information for configuring iCloud Mail in
any email client that supports IMAP and SSL.
Products Affected
iCloud
iCloud Mail uses IMAP and SMTP standards supported by most modern email
applications. You can use the server information below to manually configure
your email application to send and receive iCloud Mail.
Notes:
If you are using Mail on a Mac with OS X Lion (v10.7.2 or later), or
Microsoft Outlook 2007 or 2010 on a Windows PC, follow these instructions
for automated iCloud setup.
If you are using Mail on a Mac with Mac OS X Snow Leopard (v10.6), or a
device with iOS 4, see this article with specific instructions.
For more information on how to use this information with your email
application, consult your application's documentation.

Rsonally I wouldn't want my email coming in like text messages. I like
texting for instant stuff but man if my mail came in like that I would never
have a life. Haha!

that, though, since the biggest thing is supposedly push, and that's just
like keeping your client open in my opinion.

It's pretty accessible with JAWS. What issues are you having with it?
It's simply a list of checkboxes that you tab through and can check or
uncheck. Then select the apply button, then the close button.
