Re: Westminster Chimes Full updated for iOS15 compatibility.

2021-11-23 Thread Martin Dudley
Hi
I have tried all permutations of settings, the One that seems to be the
problem is the allow in notification centre which does not work, turning
this off the notification is still in notification centre. And therefore
VoiceOver reads the notification out loud
With version 14 and below allow in notification centre could be turned off
and there was no VoiceOver response

Re: Westminster Chimes Full updated for iOS15 compatibility.

2021-11-22 Thread Malcolm Parfitt
Hello Martin,

Here's how I have mine configured so I hope this helps.

Go into Settings on your iPhone.

Next go to Notifications.

Scroll down to Westminster Chimes Full and double-tap.

Allow notifications is set to on. Double-tapping toggles this on/off.

Under the heading Always Deliver Immediately I have Time Sensitive
Notifications set to on, again this is a toggle item.

Under the heading Alerts I have:

Allow On Lock Screen disabled.

Allow in Notification Centre deselected.

Allow As Banner disabled.

Sounds On.

Badges off.

Under the heading Lock Screen Appearance I have:

Show Previews set to never.

You will need to double tap Show Previews to access its list of options, in
here double tap Never to select it.
Double tap Back to exit this screen and Back once again and you're done.

When you launch Westminster Chimes you have some options you can choose
from.

Firstly you have to set Play Chimes to on.

Swiping right you have Chimes Style. You can choose between:

Westminster, Wittington, St. Michael's, Canterbury, Winchester and Spoken.

By default I think it's set to Westminster. Double tap on Westminster to
select a different chime style if you prefer.

Swiping right is Volume, double tap to reveal its options. Mine is set to
high. Note chime volume is relative to your device's volume.

All Day on mine is selected. If you double tap here you can select a start
and end time for your chimes. If you have all the quarters, the half hour
and hour chimes set to on there is a 12 hour limit for the chimes to play.
You can increase this by deselecting 15 and 45 minute and it will now chime
for 21 hours. If All Day is selected this limit does not apply.

If you continue to swipe right you have a number of options you can toggle
on/off. Under the heading Play The Quarters:

Chime The Hour, Play The Quarters, On The Hour [00], Quarter Past [:15],
Half Past [:30] Quarter Till [:45].

If I remember correctly the free version of the app does not play when the
app is not running. The full version plays when the app is exited farom the
App Switcher and when the device is locked.

Hope this has helped you.

Re: Westminster Chimes Full updated for iOS15 compatibility.

2021-11-22 Thread Martin Dudley
Hi listers
I have just joined the list after finding this subject whilst looking for a
solution to this problem. I believe that it is a bug in IOS15. In
notifications there is an option to turn off 'show in notification centre',
this does not turn it off in IOS15. Very rustrating and I hope the bug will
be rectified in v15.2.

If I'm wrong and someone has a solution then please let me know.

2021-11-04 Thread Diane Giannetti
Nikki, did you say you tried when I suggested? I said to go to the Watch it’s
self, go to notifications, go in there and see if you can find it notification
from the Westminster chimes clock, then go down and find manage and swipe over
and find off and hit the off button and it should hopefully work for you.

Re: Westminster Chimes Full updated for iOS15 compatibility.

2021-11-04 Thread 'NickiKeck' via VIPhone
I actually tried that. Here’s the crazy thing. I went to the apps mirroring
notifications to my watch from my iPhone. Every app I have installed was there
except Westminster chimes. It just wasn’t in that list. I don’t get it!

Now no matter what I do, if the phone is locked, no chime and it just comes to
the watch which I don’t want. (Shrug) I am totally stumped.

Just to be clear, I went to the watch app and then notifications and scrolled
down to where it had the lists mirroring notifications.

This solution didn't seem to work for me. I am trying one more thing and
we'll see.

2021-11-04 Thread Robin Frost

Hi,

Hmm interesting I turned all off but sounds including notification
center and it seems to be fine here I didn't want to see it in
notification center so gave it a go. Perhaps others can report how it's
working for them.

Take good care.

Subject: Westminster Chimes and iOS 15

I just submitted a new build of Westminster Chimes to the App Store!

This address the problem of the chimes not playing in iOS 15. Now we just have
to wait for Apple to approve it.

Part of the problem was that the previous version was not registering for
anything other than Sounds. That no longer works. Apple wants the end user to
have total control over their notification experience. So, by default,
Westminster Chimes will show Banners, and show on the lock screen.

For the best experience, I suggest that you go into Settings > Westminster Chimes
> Notifications, and turn off “Show in Lock Screen” and “Banners”. Leave
“Notification Center” and “Sounds” turned on.

Thank you for your patience, and for your business!

Re: Westminster Chimes Full updated for iOS15 compatibility.

2021-11-04 Thread Diane Giannetti
Nikki, I have a solution. You’re the one that also was having a problem with
notifications coming on your watch. When you get a notification from
Westminster Chimes Full go to the notification center on the regular phone not
the watch app go to notification Center find a Westminster Chimes Full
notification I think you Erril down I don’t think you’re going to be you were
all down towards manage and you go away the end where it says turn off and you
toggle that turn it off and you will get your clock sounds. I’ve tried it and
it’s wonderful. A friend told me about it and I was ever so grateful.

I've had this happen when an app is not installed on the watch, you still may
find it in the Watch Notifications on the watch and you can turn it off.

Hello Diane,

That's a total mystery why you are getting notifications on your watch.

I have an elderly series2 Apple Watch and I'm not getting any notifications on
it from Westminster Chimes. As you say the app is not installed on your watch.

It may be worth sending an e-mail to:

Best of luck.

OK Malcolm, I do not get any notifications now on my phone, however, I did get
it on my Apple Watch just notifications. I am not getting any chimes. I don’t
know why I got the notifications on my Apple Watch because it’s not on my Apple

My current settings are as follows:
In settings, I go to notifications. Notifications are on. There is a heading
that says always deliver immediately. Then it says Time sensitive notifications
on. Then I go into alerts. Selected Allow
On lock screen. Selected Allow in notification Center. And they both say
button after that. Then then it says, allow on banner, sounds on. Then we go to
a heading called an ounce. Announ announce notifications on.
Then we go to heading called lock screen appearance. Then it says show previews
always default. Then it says something about grouping automatic. It will not
chime on the lock screen but it will chime when the screen is unlocked. Also
how can I get rid of the notifications on my phone in the notification Center
and also on my watch.

RE: Westminster Chimes Full updated for iOS15 compatibility.

2021-11-03 Thread Malcolm Parfitt
Hello Diane,

When you launch Westminster Chimes you have some options you can choose from.

If you double tap here you can select a start and
end time for your chimes. If you have all the quarters, the half hour and hour
chimes set to on there is a 12 hour limit for the chimes to play. You can
increase this by deselecting 15 and 45 minute and it will now chime for 21
hours. If All Day is selected this limit does not apply.

If you continue to swipe right you have a number of options you can toggle
on/off. Under the heading Play The Quarters:

Chime The Hour, Play The Quarters, On The Hour [00], Quarter Past [:15], Half
Past [:30] Quarter Till [:45].

If I remember correctly the free version of the app does not play when the app
is not running. The full version plays when the app is exited farom the App
Switcher and when the device is locked.

Hope this has helped you.

Re: Westminster Chimes Full updated for iOS15 compatibility.

2021-11-03 Thread Duane Steele
Hello Diane, and others on this list,

Regarding Westminster Chimes, I have found that the only way to get the chimes
to ring consistently is to be sure your phone is unmuted. When the phone is
muted, the chimes will still vibrate so you know they're working if the phone's
in your pocket. But they won't ring unless the phone's unmuted. That's been my
experience, and I hope it helps.

Peace & Blessings,

The developer of the westminster Chime app gave me an update. Here is what he
said:

From: J Luther Barnhart

To: J Luther Barnhart
Subject: Westminster Chimes and iOS 15

I just submitted a new build of Westminster Chimes to the App Store!

This address the problem of the chimes not playing in iOS 15. Now we just have
to wait for Apple to approve it.

Part of the problem was that the previous version was not registering for
anything other than Sounds. That no longer works. Apple wants the end user to
have total control over their notification experience. So, by default,
Westminster Chimes will show Banners, and show on the lock screen.

For the best experience, I suggest that you go into Settings > Westminster
Chimes > Notifications, and turn off “Show in Lock Screen” and “Banners”. Leave
“Notification Center” and “Sounds” turned on.

Thank you for your patience, and for your business!

Yes, that sorted it out. Applying the same settings to both Big Ben and
VoiceOver also suppressed Apple’s VoiceOver announcements for those apps too.
This is an excellent set of instruction that may help with other apps too to

Hello,

If my ageing memory serves me correctly the light version of Westminster Chimes
requires that the app is running, that is to say it is listed in the Task
Switcher. To have the full functionality you have to upgrade to the Full
version.

Check your settings as per Richard’s earlier post and you should be sorted.

4:30 is spoken as 16:30. Can anyone confirm this?

Re: Westminster Chimes Full updated for iOS15 compatibility.

2021-11-02 Thread Larry Smith
I updated west minster chime this afternoon. the time is announced in 24 hour
format.. I can’t find any way to change this to 12 hour format. For example,
4:30 is spoken as 16:30. Can anyone confirm this?

I'm not sure of all my other settings, but I got Voiceover to stop
talking when I chose by app in the notification grouping within the

Westminster Chimes converts your phone into an old fashioned hourly
chiming clock, playing one of five traditional melodies: •
Westminster • Whittington • St. Michael's • Canterbury • Winchester
The chimes will play, even when the app isn't running. Simple
settings allow for complete customization: • Separately set the
chimes to play on each quarter hour • Chime the hour number on the
hour • Play the chimes all day, or only during a specific time
window. You can adjust how notifications are displayed in the
Notifications section of the Settings app. We recommend the following
settings: Notification Center: OFF Alert Style : NONE Badge App Icon
: OFF Sounds : ON View in Lock Screen : OFF Completely accessible for
the visually impaired.

Yes, that sorted it out. Applying the same settings to both Big Ben and
VoiceOver also suppressed Apple’s VoiceOver announcements for those apps too.
This is an excellent set of instruction that may help with other apps too to
silence unwanted speech.

Since I don’t have this app, be sure and let folks know if that took care of
the VoiceOVer speaking issue.

I’m glad this old dog could help, .

Turn your iPhone into a chiming clock. Plays one of 5 traditional melodies, not
just Westminster. Check our our video at http://youtu.be/nT-aHbWiT0U Using the
iOS notifications feature, Westminster Chimes converts your phone into an old
fashioned hourly chiming clock, playing one of five traditional melodies: •
Westminster • Whittington • St. Michael's • Canterbury • Winchester The chimes
will play, even when the app isn't running. Simple settings allow for complete
customization: • Separately set the chimes to play on each quarter hour • Chime
the hour number on the hour • Play the chimes all day, or only during a
specific time window. You can adjust how notifications are displayed in the
Notifications section of the Settings app. We recommend the following settings:
Notification Center: OFF Alert Style : NONE Badge App Icon : OFF Sounds : ON
View in Lock Screen : OFF Completely accessible for the visually impaired.
