In addition, I think that predictive text looks at the context of what you're writing, and also considers what you have written. My wife and I have shortened names for each other. She told me not long ago that she wrote the first two letters of her shortened name for me, and one of the predictive text suggestions was correct. Apparently the phone learns what you usually write and bases its suggestions on that in part. Another time my wife had asked me a simple yes or no question. I was able to double tap the Yes predictive text suggestion and then send, without having to write out the word. I like the predictive text option mostly, but my trouble is remembering to look above the keyboard for the suggestions. I like one of them when typing on the on-screen keyboard, but I'm not sure which one. I was typing the word telekinetic and had only gotten as far as the k when that word was suggested. I love that. I want just the right level of assistance, but not too much. I'll keep experimenting. :) As for suggestions, you can turn those on for speech in accessibility. It's not a Voiceover setting. It's in accessibility, speech.
