RE: bard and clock/timer question on IOS 8.1.1

2014-12-01 Thread Dean Martineau
Well, a good way to find out is to try it. Set a timer for to minutes, start
playing a book in your desired app, and see if it shuts off after two minutes.

Voice Dream has its own built-in sleep timer as well. Information is in the
manual.

VoiceDream and Audible have built-in sleep timers.
Perhaps reading the help files would be a good plan.
But to get you started, Double-tap and hold on the play button in VoiceDream
and the sleep timer pops up.
In Audible, double-tap on the more button and you will find the sleep timer:.

RE: bard and clock/timer question on IOS 8.1.1

2014-12-01 Thread SSEric
When stop playing is your default ring tone, you can then ask Siri to Set
timer for so-many minutes, and won't have to go into the clock app. Just
remember, if you use the timer for some other purpose, it will not produce a
sound. If I use the timer for cooking for example, I start music playing and
then set the time, so when the music stops I know my time is up.

Someone here mentioned the update to the BARD app will include a sleep
timer, but we know how many rumors we heard for how long about the original
app...

Re: bard and clock/timer question on IOS 8.1.1

2014-11-30 Thread Richard Turner
All you need is the iOS built-in clock, which has a timer feature.
The easiest way to get to it is to open the control center, then double tap on
the clock app which is in the bottom row, the timer is often the default
selection, but if it isn't it is in the lower right.
Double tap on it so it is selected.
Then, explore the screen, and you will find an hours setting and a minutes
setting, then a button that says something like when timer ends, if you double
tap on that, it will open a screen of sounds but the last item on that screen
says stop playing double tap on that and then find the set button in the
upper righthand corner and double tap that.
Then go back to either the hours or minutes and touch the one you want to
change and do a single finger flick up or down to get to the amount of time you
want.
Then, double tap on the start button.
Now, go back to BARD and start playing your book and when the timer ends, the
book should just stop playing.
You will find the next time you go to the clock timer, it will remember your
last setting.
HTH,
Richard

RE: bard and clock/timer question on IOS 8.1.1

2014-11-30 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Cathy,

The iOS built-in Timer App works with many third-party apps without any need to
configure anything inside the third party App, itself.

So, if you want the NLS BARD app to stop playing after 20 minutes, for example,
just do the following:

1.
Open the Clock app.

2.
Select the Timer Tab, located at the bottom of the display screen.

3.
Select your desired time period and make sure you have the Stop Playing item
selected as the action to take at the end of the time period.

4.
Now start the timer countdown by tapping the Start button.

5.
Now, either use the App switcher or simply press the Home button in order to go
to the BARD app.

6.
Start playing your book.

Cathy, that's all there is to it. At the end of the countdown period your BARD
app will stop playing.

Enjoy,

Mark
