I think having the audio description separate from the movie playing is much 
better. My wife and I recently watched all 4 of the Hunger Game movies on 
Netflix via our fourth generation Apple TV and on most of them if you set the 
volume so it was good for the movie the audio was so incredibly loud that is 
was uncomfortable.

producers of audio description content could settle on a standard that could be 
accessed with a smart phone app as described here, that would eliminate the 
cost of hardware to access the description which might hopefully spur the 
production of more content which is what I expect we all want.

yes i agree more audio described content is good. it is interesting that 1 out 
of the 3 movies offerd by this app is now out on dvd and the dvd includes a

oK, I sort of get that and I think it’s an interesting approach and one that 
could potentially work really well, but 3 movies really is a pretty 
disappointing offering even to start with.
Anyhow, I’ll check this for a while, if more movies show up then great, but if 
in a month there are still only 3 movies then it’s bye-bye since I then won’t 
consider it worth giving storage space to that app even if it’s only a bit.

Well, it is not an impressive selection. I'm not sure anyone had said it was.
This is a new approach to audio description. Or rather, a new attempt at this 
approach.
The device with the audio description track on it, will sync with the movie 
sound track if the microphone can hear the movie playing. So, the theater 
doesn't have to have the equipment to provide the audio description.
I had checked it out before and decided until this becomes the norm, it isn't 
worth much.
I just happened to have the link handy and provided it for those who seemed to 
think it would be useful.
