iOS 7: Braille feature enhancements and caviots

2013-09-18 Thread Joseph Lee

Hi all,
For braille display users and braille fans: We have a number of
feature enhancements for braille entry and output, including:
* You may need to pair with your wireless device again (at least
this happened when I was trying to use my Apex, and iOS asked for
the passcode).
* By default, English braille will be in UEB. You can change
this from VoiceOver's braille settings screen - there is a second
screen which shows available braille tables (for English, these
are Unified, US and UK).
* If you disable automatic braille translation, you wouldn't see
what you're typing in braille on the braille display until you
press spacebar key.
* A famous implementation (more towards a time-out) issue where
VoiceOver would insert contractions while typing in the middle of
a word has been fixed. For example, if I type te, pause then
type st sign (dots 3-4), before it would insert still; in iOS
7, it types st.
* I can verify Scott's note that select all command doesn't work
anymore.

Thanks.
Cheers,
Joseph
