more hq voices
I just got the pro forma reply from Apple accessibility, stating that they'll pass my suggestion for allowing more than one hq voice to the appropriate people. So I suppose if this is something that interests you, sending them more requests will let them know there are several folks who would like this to be done. Mary and all, When we say HQ voice, do we mean the native voice in which Voiceover defaults when you get your iOS device? If so, this suggestion would be wonderful for all Apple devices, including Mac. Hi Ben, The hq or high quality voices are the ones, of which you get one, your default language, after your ios device is up and running. The hq voice for your default language is downloaded and you then have a choice of the hq or the compact voice for that language, but only compact voices for all other languages. On the Mac, starting with Lion, you had the chance to download voices for other languages if you wanted to do that. I'm still on Snow Leopard, and I like Alex anyway for English. But for languages other than English, starting with Lion, you can get the Nuance Vocalizer voices in a whole bunch of languages. Hope that helps.
