My husband is the driver in the family, and he actually prefers Google maps for
driving over Navagon. Google maps seems to give him more warning about turns
and merging and stuff like that.

MotionX GPS Drive was removed from the App Store on August 20, 2015.
They stopped renewing Live Voice Guidance at that time. The message

"Thank you for being a valued user of MotionX GPS Drive.
Unfortunately, free competition from Google and Apple have made the
economics of MotionX GPS Drive impossible to sustain. Both Google and
Apple support their navigation solutions with their other businesses.
This is not the case for MotionX. This is the reason that we can no
longer offer new subscriptions to Live Voice Guidance for MotionX GPS

I’m sure Navigon will not disappear as its maps are held on the phone and can

Re: motion x GPS drive discontinued

2015-11-24 Thread Esther
Hi Mike,

MotionX GPS Drive was removed from the App Store on August 20, 2015. They
stopped renewing Live Voice Guidance at that time. The message that comes
up if you still have the app is:
"Thank you for being a valued user of MotionX GPS Drive. Unfortunately,
free competition from Google and Apple have made the economics of MotionX
GPS Drive impossible to sustain. Both Google and Apple support their
navigation solutions with their other businesses. This is not the case for
MotionX. This is the reason that we can no longer offer new subscriptions
to Live Voice Guidance for MotionX GPS Drive. We sincerely apologize for
any inconvenience this may cause and hope that you have some level of
satisfaction with the offerings from Google and Apple which are free. We
want to thank you for your support. We know that we have a superior
product, but it has been impossible to compete with free offerings from
others."

What exactly was better about their walking directions over Google or Apple
maps? Just curious.

Thanks,

Re: motion x GPS drive discontinued

Interesting. In some ways I do think motion x was superior. On the
other hand, when Google and Apple started offering free navigation, I
did wonder if the paid apps would survive. It will be interesting to
see if other apps such as TomTom, Garmin and Navigon survive. Motion x
was a great app, I will definitely be sorry to see it go.

motion x GPS drive discontinued

2015-11-23 Thread Mike Arrigo
Hey everyone. I have some sad news, from what I can tell, the Motion x
GPS Drive app is no longer available. It no longer shows up in the app
store. This is kind of sad, it was one of the best main stream GPS apps
in my opinion, and actually provided fairly decent walking directions.
It was one of the top rated GPS apps, wonder why they discontinued it,
but that's what has happened.
