passcode and touch id
Hi all, just got my iphone 5s yesterday and have a question. What I want to do is to turn off the passcode but leave the touch id on. Seems as though if I turn the passcode off, touch id doesn’t work either. How should I set up those options to do what I want it to do? Hi Don, Without a passcode, touch id is not needed. You would simply use the unlock icon to unlock the phone. Touch ID is away to use a passcode without having to actually enter the passcode manually. Hello. You have to use a pass code with touch ID. When touch ID does not work, the phone will ask you to input your passcode. Hi, The Touch ID won't work without a passcode. That's because you need a backup in case your touch ID doesn't work and it does happen. Hi Don, As several others pointed out, you cannot use Touch ID without a Passcode. You can use a Passcode and not setup the Touch ID, but not vice versa. In fact, if you set up Touch ID, you still have to unlock your phone for the first time using the passcode if you ever do a restart. You also will be prompted to enter your passcode to unlock the phone if your fingerprint didn't get recognized 3 times in a row.
