Re: playing WMA audio book files from Overdrive on Iphones
I'm fairly certain you can only play Overdrive MP3 books on the iDevice. WMA is a Windows format, and also, the files have a lot of protected content, so may not play in anything other than Overdrive without self-destructing. I hope I'm wrong, though. I can't test it, since you can only use Windows to transfer the files, and I don't have access to that application. WMA stands for Windows Media Audio. And as has been pointed out, won't play on i devices. Re: playing WMA audio book files from Overdrive on IPhones
I have not tried the Overdrive audio books but would it be possible to convert them to mp3 or m4a with a file converter such as Switch? There are several good programs for playing mp3 or m4a books such as Audio Book and Podcast player. . I listened to them all the time before the BARD app came out and used Switch to convert the ones in WMA format to mp3 or m4a. Just a thought. RE: playing WMA audio book files from Overdrive on IPhones
The program SoundTaxi is excellent for converting protected OverDrive wma and Audible files to mp3 format for personal use. It cost in the $20 range but is well worth it in my opinion. I don't need to hear a barrage of posts about the legality of converting such protected content but those considering using such a utility should realize the legality of doing so might be an issue.
