The charger is a little bit hot when it charges the external battery. You might want to try a different cable, I also have that charger and it works perfectly when I use any of my Lightning cables. I don't think there are any other talking chargers out there, but if you are considering a new external battery I can highly recommend the Anker brand which you can easily find on Amazon. Hi all I had a my charge peak I used with my Iphone 4s. Now I've upgraded to Iphone 6 and plugged the charging cord into it since it doesn't have one built in and it hasn't worked as good since. It doesn't want to stay charging my phone. Does anyone know of another charger similar to this one that talks and tells you when it is charged and or your phone is charged?
