Robert,

Apple would not sell you Apple Care for this device because it is beyond the 
one-year period in which you typically could have purchased the APple Care 
plan. However, you have two options.
1. Call Apple's accessibility line  at (877) 204-3930 and perhaps they can 
help. I'm not sure if they will charge or not.
2. Do a little searching on Google because it is possible someone has 
encountered this issue and there may be an answer. Or someone on the list might 
be able to help.
